i fueled my BX2350 and mowed my 1.5 acres 3 times and it still reads near full. is this correct? im guessing i probably run the tractor about an hour every time i mow, so that's about 3 hours of operation. i keep my lawn fairly short to keep the clipping mess to a minimum, i generally mow every 5 days or so. i run the tractor at 2,600-2,700 RPM while mowing. i see no need to run it at wide open throttle.

No, it is not correct. Those fuel gauges are not accurate. Keep track of how much you put in.

if the fuel gauge is functioning properly are they accurate, or were they never accurate. when i bought the tractor it read 1/2 tank, i wonder how much fuel was actually in the tractor at that time?

i would venture to guess around .5 gallon per hour burn rate at modest load, if the tractor takes almost 7 gallons to fill it..... then i would guess 13 hours from full to empty, of course you never actually want to run it that long.

My fuel gauge was never accurate since new. The dealer warned me not to trust it before I even noticed that it never moved off full while using it. The next time you start it, it may show a new level.

Yes, your consumption assumption seems realistic.

.5 gallons per hour is extremely efficient. gasoline zero turn mowers can burn 2 gallons per hour, they arent going to mow 4x as much grass. its impressive how much these tractors will do on so little fuel. notice i said fuel and not gas LOL

Bought a bx23 2 months ago and just passed 21 hours today. Was delivered full and I just today added 4 gallons of fuel for the 2nd time. I have moved 36 yards of loam, pulled logs, dug up stuff. All at around 2300 RPM. Seems when I go above 2500 RPM the fuel seems to go much quicker. My gauges so far seem to be spot on with a 6 gallon tank.

My 4 cylinder Kubota generator (15KW) would use exactly .5 gal per hour running at 1800 rpm with a moderate load (6-7 KW) I know this because I would use 30-40 gallons of diesel on a 3 day fishing trip. They are THAT efficient.

My fuel gauge broke so I use a plastic stick. I measured the depth of the tank in inches and divided that into the gallons when full. MY capacity of fuel is 8.8 gallons and depth is 12 inches, which is roughly .67 of a gallon per inch. I marked the stick accordingly for inches and gallons. Pretty accurate readings. I full the tank when the stick reads roughly 4 to 5 gallons and it takes about approximately 4 gals from a 6 gallon jug. I do that considering the slope of the tank and don't want to run empty. Cant say how accurate it is a low level near 2 gallons so I full at the 4 gallon mark.

My zero turn uses 4 gallons of gas in 1.25 hrs :p My L1501 would do the same yard in 2.5 hrs with the finish mower and burn about 1.5 gallons of diesel.

I've run my BX23S at 2000 for driving, 2500 for working for the past year and now have 130+ hrs on it. Very fuel efficent and the low fuel light is a GREAT reminder to fillup. Gauge seems to work fine for me. It's a LOT better on fuel than my mid70s 'low compression' A-C Buda dieselled forklift !!
