Hi everyone this is my first post. Been talking to the owner of a 7100 that may be for sale soon. He told me the tractor is going to need tires soon. The hr meter don't work . It has been used for grass cutting 95% of the time and a little bit of grading driveway with rear blade. Can somebody give me an idea of how many hrs are on it. I haven't seen it but he said it's in real good condition. Thanks in advance.

There is no way we could be able to tell the hours.

Gonna need some more info to even take a edjamacated guess.....

any idea as to how many seasons this was owned and operated?

Being the tires are old and worn, I would say and then again this is a total swag.....1500 + hours.

More can be "told" about the machine by looking at wear marks on the paint, looking at how much smoke comes out on starting and how long it smokes when running.

Is this a 4 bolt front wheel or 6 bolt front wheel? Got any pictures to post?

WHAT IS showing on the hour meter?

The actual hours will be a guess. You say the meter shows 660 hours and it's a 1990 tractor.

Is the seller the original owner? Does anyone have any idea when the hour meter gave up the ghost? Example, if you find the meter quit 5 years ago and you have 660 hours, that mean you basically have 660 hours in 20 years. That equals 33 hours a year.

Most homeowners use their mower/tractor about 50 hours/yr.

Im guessing 60 hours per year with mine based on the fuel i purchased, most hours are mowing. Now if it spent any time for contractor or commercial use then its more like 500 or more hours a year. Paint wear tells a lot.

"He said the tractor is a B7100 newer model around 1990. 660 on meter"

As D2Cat and TJ said based on your info you might be under a 1000 or so. There year can be narrowed down two ways - looking at the serial number and looking at the rim on the rears. Both will give you a good idea as to what year it really is - but that really does not matter much.

The engine is the secret - does it start, smoke?, stop smoking after a bit? Does the hydraulics work as they should? As I said earlier and Tj eluded too - the wear on the paint is great way to tell if hours are on it or not.

But without a doubt - the engine (even a compression test) will tell you more than anything else.:)

I'm interested. I don't know how to send a private message...? Could you message me?
DM,

click on the persons name......
second item from top in list is
"send private message to...",

and if you get a new one - it will show up on your screen in the upper right hand under your name - where it says private messages.:)
