Thinking about auctions, the one making the money is the auction house. Look at livestock auctions, cattle selling for over $3 a pound. Not too long ago (2022) choice steers were bring $1.30- 1.45.

No matter what the selling price the house gets the same percentage and has the same help, same facilities, same time required to sell!

Mean you don't even buy anything from the snack stand?
Absolutely! I’m always good for a coffee and a hot dog….or two.

That’s where watching an online auction is lacking…..no snack stands.

I'll have an auction of my crap when I move to the old folks home. I'll get $0.10 on the dollar for actual worth, the auction house $1.10 on the value of every dollar. and the buyer paying $1.30 for every dollar of value. Crazy math, right?
I don't care, I'm not going to spend a year whittling it down on my own.
I was involved in auto auctions (I ran a large bank lending dept and we had a few dozen repos every month), only the auction place made out. It gave me a good view of what was going on without finding out the personal hard way.
The best auction for a buyer is a yard sale.

@John T - - know you got a SSL lately, so maybe you're not looking for auctions anymore.

I only offer this link for Saturday March 15, 2025 as looks like they have a bunch of new SSQA attachments that would likely fit your skid steer. Have a few SSL's as well.

Might give you an idea what attachments could be bought for.

Same guys I posted before at post #12 - 15 minutes north of Binghamton, New York.

March 2025 Vehicles & Equipment Auction

Through their Proxibid App, you can just watch the auction Live, or log in to bid.

I usually just watch, but I think I've gotten the ability to bid before without giving much information.

They just show their Auction Catalog pictures during the auction - - - no live camera-type coverage.

I'm considering going to the venue for a little while. Only 30 minutes away for me.

The snack shack has GREAT hot dogs......Can't beat an auction and hot dogs....;)

Mountain Valley has one in Catlett VA near me. Online only. Bids are getting to the point I'd just buy new. $13k for a SxS that sells for $18k new? Then add the fees? No thanks.

My favorite auction items are small or mid-sized name-brand homeowner chainsaws in good/excellent condition.

Add buyers premium and sales tax, and many times buyers would be better off picking one off the shelf at the Stihl or Husky dealership. They’d get a warranty besides…… ;)

Bet I’ve seen that 20-30 times over the years.

Sometimes see the same with building materials, where stuff is sold by the piece, square or lineal foot. A bid increase of $0.25 or $0.50 can quickly and easily price the auction item beyond what you can get at the lumber yard….
