I know this isn't a Orange piece of equipment, but I will repaint this dang thing if someone can help me. I am just wondering if anyone has replaced the $400.00+ Briggs & Stratton engine with a Predator 212. If you did, where did you find the adapter for the shaft? I have spent a few days trying to find one and can't find it. I have ordered a couple from Amazon where the reviews say they will work, but when they arrive, they are wrong. I know I can't be the only one who has run into this issue. I have watched a few videos on you tube, but no help. Thanks in advance for any help you could give, or provide a link to the adapter, etc......

What sort of adapter is needed?

What I meant was it is round, but instead of a tapered, it is the same 3/4" diameter. Accord to Brigg's they call it a "squared" end instead of tapered. I thought that was a little misleading, myself.

Pictures of what needs to be adapted?
Looked it up. The impeller bolts to engine shaft.
You could cut out the tapered mount and weld in the keyed 3/4 shaft from a pulley or something similar. I’ve done the same on a walk behind blower when I swapped a predator on it. It had some odd ball mount, cut it out and welded a good chunk of metal with 3/4 shaft. It even runs pretty true!

I am totally lost.

The Predator has a 3/4" round crankshaft with 3/16" square key. What does it have to mate with?

Parts breakdown doesn’t show it, but I’d guess something like a golf cart clutch. Most are 1” shaft that tapers down to 3/4 or so. No keyway.

Just get the 301cc Predator with the 1" shaft, mount the thing to a workbench/board/whatever, fire it up and let the spinning shaft act as a lathe while you file/grind it down to the proper taper.

What can’t you find! Lol. Bet that will do the trick, unless it’s some odd ball taper… hopefully @Whitetail Hunter comes back.

Guys.... Thanks those are some really GREAT ideas. Sorry, IT dept had me offline for a little bit. Technology is great when it works!!! OldHokie, Moots and Speed 25 thanks for all the suggestions!! I think the simple (and cheapest) thing would be to try one of the 3/4" golf taper adapter, but Speed25's idea will work as well. It's a little more expensive, but not as pricey as a Briggs. I just got tired of always having to work on the Briggs..

Please report back, with pictures of that adapter in the impeller and installed. Might come in handy for a few things I have.
