Don't have third function on my tractor, but does anyone make a two function grapple? Haven't seen one, but just wondering.

I'm in the middle of designing a grapple that has electric actuators on it just for the guys that don't want to add hydraulics.
Down side is it won't be any cheaper. :(
Up side is it will be very simple to install. :D

Another option would be to do an electric solenoid to redirect the roll function to run the grapple, cuts down on the amount of hydraulics required. ;)

Yes, a hydraulic "diverter" is the simplest way to get a 3rd function if a factory option is not available.

Here is the kit we sell: http://www.boltonhooks.com/hydraulics.html#Diverter

Others can be sourced for less, but they don't include the electrics and are more difficult to mount.

Doc, what tractor/loader do you have?

Saw a spring loaded grapple triggered by a cable once. It worked but it was only as strong as the springs holding it which was determined by the leverage advantage the driver could obtain with the cable 'pull back' lever. Good enough for the small stuff.

NIWolfman, are you looking at those electric over hydraulic actuators? Yeah, they're strong but man are they pricey!

Its an old L3010 with a Bush Hog brand loader, don't remember the numbers on that. Probably will just break down and get third function installed.
