Right on guys, and the iceman came every week and delivered our ice. It was under a tarp in the back of the truck and covered with sawdust.

It is amazing and mind boggling the changes that I have witnessed during my past 81+ years.

When I was a kid, we didn't have dial phones. You picked up the receiver and a lady asked number please? I still remember our home and Dad's store numbers.

Pre-Amazon Sears catalog store; order from home or browse through the catalog at the store. Place your order and a few days later it was ready to pick up. I think they'd deliver some stuff.

I'm definitely not that old, but I could give you my phone number from 40 years ago without missing a beat while struggling to tell you my wife's phone number that she's had for many years.

My grandparents had a party line at the farmhouse till late 70s or early 80s. I found it interesting that we had to wait for the rings to know if it was for them or not.

When I was a kid, we did not get electricity until I was 7, never had a phone, and I was in the 11th grade before we got a TV. I left home @ 17 and never lived at home again. Nothing wrong, no one mad, just no room for me there. If I was gonna make it, I had to make it on my own. Uncle Sam gave me my 18th birthday @ Ft. Jackson, SC.

I was 30 years old before my folks finally got a party line phone.
