Are you sure that's not my mormor and morfar's house (technically my cousins' mormor and morfar - other side of the family)? I mean, I don't recognize the woman, but everything else sure looks like it.
Actually it was Grandpa giving me a tenner to go in and get a carton of Kool Menthol non filters
And you got $6.50 change. I remember when unfiltered Camels were 35¢ in a machine and they had a few pennies between the cellophane and paper on the bottom of the pack because the machine didn't do pennies.Actually it was Grandpa giving me a tenner to go in and get a carton of Kool Menthol non filters![]()
Not so fast!
Started at about 10 for me. Swisher Sweets and/or Winstons. After a couple years, if Dad was in a generous mood, he’d add enough for a pack of Levi Garrett or plug of Black Maria for me. (I started on my own.) Almost always when we were fishing or working outside away from the house all day. Mom didn’t raise much sand about it but she didn’t exactly approve either.
No, it was a couple bucks and some change. This was early 80's. They were around $0.70 a pack. And you got $6.50 change. If that was my place, there'd be three cases of lead poisoning shortly thereafter.
