Before spending $56/each for oil seals that might be incorrect, I thought I'd post the question here.
I have an L3240HST sn 36434 that is leaking oil at the front axles. The leak on the RH is heavier than the LH, so I've decided not to put gear oil in as a temporary holdover, but instead just replace both seals.
Looking at the parts breakdown, the seal shows a different part number based upon a serial number break. TA140-13040 is shown for numbers prior to 36621, and TC230-13040 for numbers from 36622 and up. However, many online dealers list the TC230-13040 as a direct replacement for the TA140-13040.
Calling on a few different dealer parts departments, I received conflicting answers with one telling me to get the more recent version of the seal and, after taking the axle apart, see if it fits. I didn't like that answer, so I'm posting this and hoping to find better expertise on this forum.
Thanks for reading through all this, and thanks for the help!
