I'm thinking my l3901hst may be a victim of this. At 104 hours my rear main seal is leaking oil. i have had my tractor 9months and 5 of those months have been in what those in the lower 48 considered cold weather.
Dealer said bring it in "sounds like a warranty fix" so I'm hauling it in Monday. Should be interesting to see if a frozen PCV system is the culprit or just a bad seal. I'll mention the CCV concern when I drop it off. I sure hope this is something I won't be fighting every winter.
Spring is coming. Oh wait it's only March. Two more months of snow.

My dealer contacted me and updated my L3901 HST about 1 month ago. It takes about 4 hours and consists of a heated tube for the CCV and a new alternator to handle the additional electrical load.
4 hours seems excessive to install the kit. What did the dealer itemize on your invoice?

When you live in Alaska everything freezes unless it is protected by a heat source. Did your dealer charge you for the recall upgrade? If so, I would be having a discussion with the Kubota rep or corporate.

The post you are responding to is over 6 years old, It takes approx 4 hours to install the kit and there is no charge.
The kit includes tube heaters, insulation, an alternator, wiring harness extension, relays, etc.

Let me guess - ESI - right? Anchorage or Fairbanks? I found out about the CCV Heater through the work shop manual. Have not heard about it on my previous Kubota equipment. I did install one on my generator. My dealer said it weighs 22 lbs and cost $608. Messick's sells it for $648 and I don't even want to talk to ESI, they've let me know that they can't/won't handle anything larger than an MX series. Because it's 22 lbs - does that include a larger capacity alternator? The rest doesn't seem like there's much to it. What are your thoughts? I'm in Fairbanks
Might re-read post #22.

You say there is "no charge" to install the kit?

You responded to a 6-year-old post about an L3901 which was eligible for the Kubota upgrade. At that time it would be installed for no charge.

I have no idea what you want the kit installed on. Depending on what you have and its age, yours may or may not be covered.
