Hi all,
I'm battling away with my little B5100E. Found the clutch seized when I came to starting her up.I striped her down to look at what was wrong. The main reason for my sticking clutch problem was rust but there is also severe wear on the clutch release levers ,see the 3rd pic one of the levers has the bearing landing/contact point worn off. I've priced replacement parts and I'm still dizzy.Replacement levers by 3 =€90,pressure plate €270,clutch disc €237, release bearing €33=€540 for a new clutch....this little tractor is only worth that when its running!!!I have attached pictures of the parts.Maybe someone can give me a bit of advice ie do I just replace the levers + release bearing and reuse the other parts, source cheaper supplier of spares,is the wear acceptable ,what do people think?

Well you will save a bit because the release levers come with the new pressure-plate so there's 90 you will save. That plate had to have been set up wrong anyway to wear that way. I bet if you shopped around you could find a local service that could reline the clutch disc for about 60. Maybe chat with an antique car club, somebody is relining clutches and brakes.

Well if the other side of the friction disk has the same wear as the side in the photo I would consider putting it back in.
Was the clutch working well before it froze?

I'm with B7100, buy a new pressure plate and release bearing and put her back together! She'll be fine! Oh, and keep that free pedal adjusted properly and your foot off the pedal when you're not using it!

I think so, it was 20 years ago when I last drove this tractor.I do remember that when I pressed the clutch it operated the brake as well.So it used to be a "hold on tight moment" at take off in 5th gear.Maybe the brake and clutch pedals were seized on their common shaft even back then.
I think your right about the clutch disc its in good enough condition so I'll use that again.
If I go with the option of only replacing the levers is there a way to check the pressure plate to see if its doing what it should.ie is there enough tension in the springs.Or will these problems manifest themselves when I am driving.

Had to split my 1980 B7100 this summer with clutch problems. My parts (pressure plate, pilot bushing, clutch disc & throwout bearing) were all aftermarket, some US suppliers, disc from Canada. Total cost was around $300 Cdn - about 1/2 what I was quoted by the dealer.

Somewhere there should be some info giving the free length of the PP springs so you could compare your springs with the specs.
If you can't find the specs, given that the tractor has been unused for such a long time without the clutch pedal locked in the depressed position I would take the chance the springs would be ok.

I don't normally advocate putting things back together without replacing parts
but in this case, with the parts being so expensive and splitting the tractor again relativly easy I would.

Have you checked with your revenue and customs to see how much duty/taxes you may have to pay, also the delivery Co could charge extra fees .

I thought I found a source that would be cheaper but no go. A seller (joetractor) on eBay USA is offering a pressure plate @ $86.47 and disc @ $52.49 but will not ship outside the US. :( If you find you need a new disc at some point, the suggestion about trying to find a clutch specialist for old cars sounds good to me. Some British cars of the 50's & 60's would have a similar diameter disc and that would seem to make a cluch relign possible. Good luck John!

I wonder what it would cost for someone like one of us to pickup his purchase from a dealer and package it and ship it to him?

Leafy England....
I may be of some assistance to you.
I have a complete clutch assemby from a B6100 that had done 500hrs, but, until i check it's condition i cant say if it is 100% good or not, but, it maywell be better than your present unit.
Its surplus to requirements at present but shipping may still be a cost issue to you.
let me know if your interested and i'll check its condition.
