The old NH being replaced by the Kubota has a block heater. Bit of a need during winter up here in the Northwoods. I need to check with the dealer if there is one installed on the BX. Same dealer I purchased the NH +20 years ago. Block heater was a standard dealer added feature on the tractors they sold back then.

Wondering if not a standard dealer installed accessory anymore how effective those magnetic heaters are? Guessing over the years the cost saving vs. a frost plug model is not a savings if those magnetic units have a short working life.

A heater installed in the block does a better job at what they are supposed to do- heat the cylinders to aid in starting.

Magnetic heaters were used back when ............ when the oil was very VISCOUS and the pan was made of metal. Heating the oil these days is a waste of time!! Oil is so much better than it was 50 years ago.

Block heating is the way to go - or lower radiator hose will do well too.

There is no room to use a magnetic heater.
Get the dealer to install a block heater.
FYI: I live in a much colder environment than you and I didn't use my block heater on a single piece of equipment all winter.

Thanks for the feedback. Will have the dealer install a block heater if he already has not.
We are officially now ag zone 5a. Trending over the past couple decades is definitely warming and significantly less snow. Just schizo weather. Yesterday, mid 50sF. Digging post holes in shorts and t-shirt. Awoke this AM to temps in the mid 20s with couple inches of fresh snow covering the ground.

Not sure where you are my friend, but here in the coal country, I never had one one the BX, nor the B. In reality a good battery is about all you really need. Glow plugs for 15 or 20 seconds start. let her spool up go in have another cup of coffee and when you come out, she will be warmed up and ready to get it.. But if you are intent on a block heater, like wolf man said, get the stealer to do it!

South shore of L. Superior. Lake Effect warmth in the winter and cooling in the summer. The 40 is on the south face of a ridge a few hundred feet above the Lake and ~3/4 mile inland. Why Zone 5a. Go inland 5 miles over the ridges and it is Zone4b or colder.

23F this AM, not normal for April. Dealer use to or maybe still does install block heaters in the tractors sold. I emailed him to make sure a block is installed. Made starting and warming up the NH easier on the tractor.

Even with the warming trend and shorter winters the morning lows during winter can range from below 0F to like today. Normally after a Lake Effect dump there is the colder air from the cold front that sucks up the moist air over the Lake that creates the heavy localized snowfall. Just when you can clear out the snow the temps drop. Crying about our cold morning. Not cold compared to N of here across the Lake. Single digits above zero in Grand Marais, MN ~70miles NNW on the North Shore. It is Spring? Wonky weather.
