Bx wheel weights

Finally got the weights all finished.
Used 1/2" x 6-1/2" Carriage bolt to attach weight to the rim.... wish they made a 6-3/4" carriage bolt.... as that would of been the perfect length.
I also used some "leak seal" and applied it to the inside of the weight.... to put a rubber barrier between the rim and the weight.... Hopefully it will prevent the weight from scratching the rim.
The old bolts were only 6" so the garden tractor that they were most likely attached to was not as deep of a rim.
The weights fit rim PERFECTLY !

I weighted them when I got them.... And I thought I wrote it down. From what I remember they weight just under 50 lbs. (I want to say 47 lbs each)
I use Chevrolet orange engine paint, since it matches the Kubota orange perfectly, and I also have a 1962 Chevrolet, and always have the paint in the garage for touch up on my engine.
Your weights look great, and when I fist posted, I wasn't even thinking about the Bolens weights. I recently sold off my Bolens HT20, and when I got it out of the back yard, I found the wheel weights near the tractor. I will probably put them on my tractor at some point, even though I have my rear tires filled with beet juice.

Old thread but I just did this and it worked well. I used Bolens P/N 171 6181

Looks good. How do they mount? I see the 2 bolts how does the bolts attach to the rim? Got a link to where you bought them at? From a quick google search, I found 50 lbs each from eBay. Are yours 50 lbs?

The Kubota BX wheel weights aren’t a good setup in my opinion. Plastic, typical garden tractor weights. Mine were 50#.
I got a set when I bought the tractor new. Never put them on and sold them cheap to a friend with a BX.
The operator manual doesn’t recommend weights on tires with liquid ballast.
I didn’t put them on more since I didn’t care for the weights or how they mounted. Also, didn’t really have an urgent need for more wheel ballast.
They mount with 1/2” x 7” carriage bolts. I used galvanized carriage bolts. They are inserted through the rim which have 4 square holes for this purpose. The weight fits against the rim and the two carriage bolts hold the weight on with clamping force.
The two weights were both at 50lb and I got them off of eBay. I prefer them to liquid ballast for my purposes and I am very happy with them.

I used an old set of Craftsman weights 50 lb. each I had laying around. 4 pieces of 1/2" all thread, washers and nuts. Didn't paint them since they're plastic. They're not flush like yours but they were free to me.

I turned mine from some scrap slugs. ~50# each, 2 per side so I've got about 200# and they don't stick out past the tire to catch on things.
