I just recently purchased a B6100e in perfect running order. for only $500.00 she's not pretty but it runs great. I'm looking to restore her and also want to purchase a small tiller for making my food plots with and tilling our garden.
I'm looking for suggestions on finding a good used tiller that will work well with this machine and one i'm not going to brake the bank on. I have read that max tiller size for the B6100e is 42 inches is that correct? I'm not looking for anything huge, I currently till my garden with a troy-built horse tiller as well as my food plots so as you can imagine they're not huge.
My tractor currently has turf tires on it, I would like to put Ag tires on (7-16) I believe. I'm assuming i'll have to change the rims for those tires as well? I was told that tilling would be fine with the turf tires because the tiller will do all the work, but I don't know. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you.

If/when you find the 42" tiller, which would be max, DO not start tilling UNTIL the ground is broken by something else. Your tiller is only hitting the top 4"-6" IF you ever get the first year in, and d-rock the plot, the next year it will get a little easier. I do not think you will need to change tires, personally I would invest in the tiller more so than changing tires/rims. And go very slow and make multiple passes.;):)

85Hokie, thanks for the input. My father thought the tires that it currently has would be fine, and I'm happy to hear you agree.
the good news about the tilling, is my Troybuilt did all the hard work. I've had a good size garden for the last 5 years and both my food plots are 3 years old as well. No stone in any of them some I'm good go there.
I take it from your comment of if/when you think it will be hard for me to find a 42 inch tiller to fit this machine? I have done some searching online and the used ones seem to be valued close to what a new one would cost from what I can find? do i go a size smaller?

any other opinions out there on these tillers?
am I wrong to assume that this machine with handle any cat 1 42 inch tiller? can I go with a 40 inch, or a 35? I know it only has 14HP so I know i don't want to go bigger than 42 inch in tiller size.

Thanks.

This is the correct tiller for your tractor, yea I know it says Yanmar, but I have it's twin that says Kubota and was bought new for my 6100E and I'll tell you another thing, it was made by Woods and its not too far from you.

Big Kahuna,

Thanks for the info on this tiller, looks like it has been well used. from what i'm finding on line this is a typical price for used tillers of this size. and I wrong to think i'm almost better off buying a new one?

Thanks again.

That tiller weighs almost 350 lbs. and no its not wore out, that's the way the tines are, just like mine. It's all in what you want, shiny and new or a little TLC to a tank, and it's built like one.

Big Kahuna,

that much weight won't be an issue for that little B6100hst-e 14HP engine to pull around? I knew it would be somewhat heavy, but i didn't realize it would be that heavy. I'm pretty pumped to try one of these things out, since i've been tilling with a walk behind troybuild horse the last few years.

It's the tiller that was made for that tractor, you sink it down in the ground and go. BTW it's a K-420 when they made it for Kubota.

Yes and what you have for tires are fine, it tills like powder, they are a really great tiller, give him $500 for it, new in 1980 they were $1200.
