Hi all. first post- i picked up a b6100 from a dealer about a year ago and have a question as to the throttle orientation.

I have previously owned a b6100 that my grandfather bought new and used as an interrow spraying tractor on our cane farm. the throttle on the original decreased the speed as you pulled back while this new one is the opposite. i have checked the serials with the dealer and am 99% sure it isn't a grey market. english stickers. PTO gaurd etc

The dealer claims to have rebuilt engine in the shop before putting it for sale.

Having heard that grey market tractor have the reverse i am wondering if the dealer had replaced the original injection pump with a JDM tractor pump - or possibly the whole engine???

Another thing is that the lever is not the same as the original round one as the one that was brought new which leads me to suggest it has been changed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Jackson.

Hi Crawler,
Welcome to the forum, it has been a really good source of info. Lot of knowledge here.
I have A B6100D (year unknown) but with the same throttle as you describe. Pulling the lever towards me increases the engine revs. The tractor was imported to Sweden from UK about two years ago. Grey or not - I have no idea.
But as you say - the throttle seems "reversed" if you check the manuals.
The stickers are in english and french. After some minor repairs a just love it.
Pic's please!
Here is mine yesterday

Hi

My B6100D is reversed as well.

But mine I bought from original owner so I know they didn't change it.

The original injection pump I think is made by Bosch

A "grey-market" B6100 is a B6001

Do you have a PTO safety cover?

Grey market Kubota's don't have them.

Mine came with the PTO guard but i had to take it off to fit a 2 point linkage rotary hoe that came off a b7001 gray market we have as well.

Cheers,

Jackson.

Welcome to OTT. I have a 1979 B6100E bought new and when you pull back it gets more fuel, I also have a1983 B7100 which is opposite of the 6100, I would say they made some changes over the years, I know my 6100 is not cut out for the oil filter on the side cover, finally after about 15 years I cut it out and now it's easier to change than tearing the muffler and side cover off.
I just found this little info last year, I broke one lifting arm on the 3 point hitch (the cast top one) Kubota had problems with these and they made an upgrade kit for it, instead of a bolt holding the arm they changed the splined shaft under the seat and the new arms are held in place with roll pins, so right there is a change.

Really might all depend on the model. My B6100 I pull it to me to throttle it up and away to slow it down. On my dads L275 its the opposite, push throttle up to gain idle and to me to decrease it.

According to the manual:

Pull back to slow down

Push forward to speed up.

My B6100 is opposite of that.

My throttle handle is all metal with a metal ball on top. Its one piece.

Handle in the manual shows a metal shaft with a plastic stalk on the end.

Not to be an ass but at this point I'm thinking does the direction really matter as long as the rpms throttle up and down as they should!

Oh I know, not really sure of the reason. Both tractors I mentioned before my B6100 and my dads L275 are opposite of eachother and both are North American models. I really dont think the throttle position is something you can install backwards if the engine has been replaced.

Eric. The throttle moves the rack on the injection pump. I never looked at it. I don't know if it could be reversed. Maybe there is a way.

Mine is a rod no cable

The length wouldn't change the position, just how much of a throw of the throttle lever

I've had one each way. the "backward one" was a wide wheel/turf tire/belly mower equipped tractor. both US models. So maybe....

Mine is "backwards" but has AG tires. Its me, but I hate a 4 wd with turf tires. The AG tires makes it look like it means business. ;)

Hi Vic

I'm glad you posted here.

I was going to phone my Kubota dealer. They know them upside down and sideways. They have been selling and servicing Kubota's since 1977. They are the oldest Kubota dealer in my area. I was going to ask them if they knew.

Do you know did they correct the manual in regards to the throttle movements change?

I have the original manual my tractor is opposite of whats in the manual.

Thanks Vic

Neil
