Hi guys, just recently found your site and had to join.
I recently purchased a B6000 and was wondering how I know if it is a gray market tractor or not.

I'm not an expert but I understand that, if the operation and warning labels are in English, it not gray Market. I'm sure my B6000E is not gray. Another good indicator, although not concrete, is that a lot of the grays have VERY deep tread tires on them not like the typical western farm tire. It looks like your unit has the farm type tires.

all my labels are in english and it doesn't have the deep lug tires, they appear to be identical to the tires on a B5100 I had a couple of years ago. I don't know if this means anything but it has a 3 speed pto with a 10 spline shaft

The type of tires aren't a dead ringer- someone could have easily changed them during the life of the tractor.
According to a grey market tractor list posted on mytractorforum.com, the
B6000 can be both a grey market and a USA model.

Actually... both the L200 and the B6000 were sold in both Japan and in the US. And there are differences between the Japan models and the US models. If your decals are in English, then it is more than likely not a gray. For future reference for everyone, on the Kubota web-site

http://www.kubota.com/

there is a link to a list of gray market tractors as well as a list of previous models that were sold in the US. Under "products" click on "prior products". And under "support", click on "gray market tractors" then click on "list". Notice the * by the L200 and the B6000.

But more importantly, where did you get that sickle bar mower? I want it!
I just picked the mower up. It is a custom built one that originally was for a garden tractor but converted to 3pth. Figured it would be good on the B6000 where as the mower doesn't care which direction the pto turns.

If I get the serial number for the tractor is there a way to narrow down what year it is?

I'd found s/n info on tractordata.com for the B7100, but it doesn't appear that it uses any "smarts" (i.e. with dates embeded):
1976: 10001
1977: 13931
1978: 36646
1979: 54221
1980: 64448
1981: 70678
1982: 74217
1983: 76009
1984: 77309
1985: 78435

Unfortunately, it didn't have any info on B6100's. You'll probably have to contact a dealer. They can look 'em up.
