After much reading, it appears to me the OEM backhoe solution in 1999 when the B2400 was made was the B4672. This looks to me to be a 3 pt unit AND requires two things: a frame stiffening piece on each side kit (B4681) and a top link reinforcing kit (for group 1 tractors) maybe part 4644d1018461315,

Question:
Since this is not a true sub frame install (4 point backhoe mounting) but rather a "reinforce your tractor to handle the extra load on it" kit and uses a 3pt backhoe, will any lightweight 3 pt backhoe work (assuming hydraulics are figures out) AFTER the frame strengthening kits are installed?

I am considering building a sub frame to support a BT603 as I see them for sale regularly... but just using the B4672 looks to be a lot easer to configure.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

It might work... or it might not. You'll say you will be carefull and not abuse it... but with hydraulics, you just don't know the force you put on the tractor (until it breaks). Can you get away with it? many people have. Just know there is a risk when you use it.

I bought a Long 1099 (way too big for my tractor) decided to try it out on a small 6000 pound bulldozer to pull out some dead boxwoods. Luckily, it just striped out the 6 bolts of the top link... Most likely could not break the dozer in half!!!

Friend has a 3ph back hoe on a L3010, no subframe... it's working just fine for him. It is a lot beefier tractor than yours...

Bottomline, it's risk vs. reward... The subframe will help but no one can guarantee it will work (or not).

Thanks for the quick response. I would prefer to get a full sub frame but as far as I can tell no one mfg's them anymore. My thinking was that the engineers back in the day did the stress analysis and thus made the B4681 support kit for that (B4672) small backhoe for the B2400. It looks to me like that kit basically takes the load from the rear axel and distributes it up to the FEL connection, thus strengthening the middle of the tractor. The top link kit then distributes the top[ link load further into the axel assembly as well.

Would really like to just make a full sub frame that would work with the bt603 or even the 77... and I might have to if I don's score a B4672 in the next few months.

According to the online parts for my BX23S, dwg C41700 shows the 'sub frame' pieces as 'figure # M212XX'.
sadly I can't FIND that 'figure' online....
They should be available ($$$) making it easy (easier ??) to adapt a BT603 to your tractor ??

Hopefully, I'll find the photo of my heavy duty top link that I mounted... I've described it a couple of times... All I had time to find was before I welded the ears on. I used new, longer, grade 8 bolts - it bolts on top of the rear casing and the back. If I get a chance, I have a document of several heavy duty top links for many different models....

Yes - that looks like the OEM Top Link reinforcer. If I go with a 3pt set up for the hoe that will be needed along with the support frame kit. The issue is probably going to be locating a B4672 backhoe. I see lots of woods, deer, and even newer kubota units but very few of the older kubotas that were 3 pt.

I need to snap some pics this evening of the rear axel housing assembly on the B2400 to figure out how to attach a ladder/rail subframe. The front is fairly straight forward as it will attach to the FEL housing. It's my understanding that the goal is not to use the toplink at all but rather rely fully on the subframe. In order to do this I will need to fabricate my subframe to go around the axel housing as I will need a support from the top of the Hoe bracket down to the ladder sub frame. More to follow...

3pt backhoes a good way to hurt tractor. Poor balance and awkward control on hilly ground can hurt you. Pro is they did show us how valuable a backhoe can be. From used farm grade full sized backhoe to dedicated TLB.

Took years to find a backhoe for the M59. Same farm equipment seller had many used small tractor backhoes for $1,000s more. They are expensive.
