I've got a new (January 3rd) KX040-4. It's really great. On the lower left front portion of the cab there is a small (approx. 5"x5") door with a key cylinder lock, similar to the other access locks on the machine. What does this door access? The key that came with the machine won't turn in the lock, so I can't open it to find out. Anybody got one? Also, the machine came with two keys. See Photo. One has an approx. 5/16" deep shroud which prevents it from being able to actually go into the locks or ignition far enough to work. Is is for a different type of machine?

The "shroud" is not supposed to be on the key, It's is supposed to be stuck to a lock, probably the main ignition switch.

The keys are all cut the same, spray some lube in the lock as either key should work in that lock.

Look at the photo. The shroud is purposeful and integral with the key. Not sure what the purpose is-perhaps it’s for a machine without a cab and offers protection from water getting into the lock cylinder. In my case it prevents the key from going far enough into cylinder to work. In any case I trimmed the shroud back and now have a key that works. The keys are not all cut the same. There may not be but a few variations, but there are different key numbers with different cut patterns.

From the blurry picture it looks like the same pattern to me, given the keys are "low security." There likely aren't cylinders in the locks, just obstruction points.

From a reliability vs security standpoint I think that's all one needs. Maybe Lamborghini uses cut keys, the rest look stamped. (I'm not a tractor key expert. Or a key expert. I do like a good burger though. ;) )
