I have a m7040 and looking for a 10ft brush hog. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the off set models and how they worked. They look like they would be nice to cut a long fence lines. I'm leaning towards a pull type. And how well will the 7040 pull it not mowing heavy brush. Thanks

I have no experience with offset 10' mowers, but you will have no trouble with a pull type 10', I know a guy who pulls a Woods 12' DS1440 Pull Type with his M7040.

I have experience with the land pride and Bush hog and think they are both well built a day expensive. All of my dealings have been on the small side of things and I'm trying to do a little upgrade to cut my time down thanks

I have the landpride 3010 pull type I use behind my 8560. You can't tell it's back there. Cuts great and pretty heavy duty. I doubt your tractor would know it's back there.

We pull a Woods DS1260 with our M8540, about the same size as your LP with the same results, high weeds/brush or grass in the hills and it works great.

If your the only one running it its ok for the fence line, If others are using it , I almost guarantee the will hook it on some tree or stump or fence post .
I find I can get enough offset with the use of my stabilizers and I can keep a better eye on things, the offset is great for cutting over the ditch edges,
just my experiences

I've never used a off-set but I sure love pulling a batwing along fences. Another plus to a pull type is you don't have all the trash getting thrown up on your tractor.
