Not all coolant drained from BX

I have a BX that is two years old with 150 hours on it. According to the manual the coolant should be changed every two years. The manual said open either the radiator drain plug or the engine block. It said nothing about opening both. I opened the engine block because the radiator drain plus...

    Tire inflator OK to use?

Can I use a tire inflator (instead of an air compressor) to add air to liquid filled tires on a BX? It seems most folks on here use an air compressor but a tire inflator is what I have. I was wondering if I might destroy the inflator or electrocute myself if liquid somehow gets into it.

Another grease thread, but for the MMM

I know there are many grease threads, but most pertain to the FEL rather than the MMM. The manual for my BX says to use "multipurpose EP 2 grease." I use Kubota's moly-lithium grease on the loader but understand this is not appropriate for the MMM because of the high speed/temps involved in the...

    BX hydro dipstick bone dry

When I put my new tractor (15 hours) "away" for the winter there was plenty of hydro oil on the dipstick. I used it a couple of times in January to remove snow. Today I decided to take it out and noticed the hydro dipstick was bone dry. Is it typical for hydro oil to need to be added especially...

    Review of new BX 1880

I took delivery of a new BX 1880 about a month ago and wanted to share a review since this site has been helpful in making the purchase decisions. First, I want to say that I considered both a BX 1880 and BX 2380. The dealer was very cold on the BX 1880, to the point I wondered why they were...

Using paper bags in BX bagger

I am only using the bagger in the fall to collect the massive amount of leaves I have. The bagger manual says one can put paper lawn bags in the bagger. This would be very convenient because they could be picked up with the trash. Unfortunately, I tried this and it did not work so well. I found...

    BX mower deck keeps lowering

I have a new BX 1880 with a 54 inch belly mower. I have noticed than when doing things other than mowing, such as driving around or using the loader, the mower deck keep descending a little into the cutting position. I have to keep using the lever to raise it back up into the highest position...

    Heavier blade for BX 1880

I am purchasing a BX 1880 with a snow blade. Initially I was interested in the Land Pride STB05 series in 56 or 60 inches, which is recommended for 17-24 HP BX tractors. However, the dealer does not have any of these and is recommending the model size up--Land Pride STB10 in 60 inches, which is...

Would a BX 1880 meet my needs?

I'm trying to decide between a BX 1880 and 2380. My uses would be: 1. I have 3 acres. I cut 2 acres with a zero turn. The remaining acre is scary on the zero turn and requires something better on hills. 2. Moving mulch 3. Helping with tree work, e.g., hauling cut branches to the woods to...
