steel brush guard mounted on factory grill guard Kubota L3540 4x4 w/ FEL and backhoe

Stage 4. I decided to weld the wings in place. But, I know that I am likely to have to add a mid brace and photos show the plan for that. It has to be bolt in as I don't need to lift this heavy thing over the factory grill guard. This way, it slides in from the front.

steel brush guard mounted on factory grill guard Kubota L3540 4x4 w/ FEL and backhoe

Stage 3. When I decided to cover the headlight area with a sold panel, I decided to build wings on the side of the lower 12" of my grill guard. This is where I am currently and not finished though I have the complete plan and will finish in a few days. I took some cardboard and taped it to the...

steel brush guard mounted on factory grill guard Kubota L3540 4x4 w/ FEL and backhoe

More stage 2 photos. This section is made from 1/2" 16ga. sq. tubing, some 14 or 12 ga. weld brackets w/ 3/8" predrilled holes and more 20ga. 12x24 sheetmetal. The square tubing came from Metal Supermarkets (local) and all weld brackets I've used came from bobcometal dot com.

steel brush guard mounted on factory grill guard Kubota L3540 4x4 w/ FEL and backhoe

Stage 2. It works nicely but in one case of getting nearly stuck pushing over privet, a big piece broke through the expanded metal part as well as breaking my NEW $200 factory grill. After attempting to replace the expanded metal (too much work), I thought about putting a 2nd layer on top...

steel brush guard mounted on factory grill guard Kubota L3540 4x4 w/ FEL and backhoe

Stage 1. Related to my other post about fixing the plastic grill itself, I first built this steel guard to keep from poking brush (mostly privet) through the grill and damaging the radiator, battery, etc. I built it AFTER damaging the original factory cheap plastic grill. I use the FEL to rip...

rebuild rusted out reclining seat on Kubota L3540

I bought an 09 in 2020. The seat swayed and bent when you sat on it. The factory reclining seat fits me just right and a new factory one or even an attempt at buying an aftermarket one was very expensive. I already knew as I had done this same repair on an another L3540 about 4 years earlier...

repair cheap plastic grill on Kubota L3540

So, I push down a lot of brush (mostly BIG Privets, which I despise) w/ my FEL and a few times it has gotten the best of me and damaged my cheap plastic grills. The 1st thing I did was build a steel grill guard and hung it from the Kubota 3 bar grill guard. I'll post on that at another time...

    L3540 Intellipanel default display

I have 2 L3540HSTs - close manuf. time w/ s.n. only about 200 apart. According to the operating manual, pg. 50, the default display when you crank the tractor will be the one you left it on last. I prefer to leave the "trip meter" on most of the time. One of my tractors does what pg. 50 says...

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I struggled with using a long pry bar and a piece of wood to move the spacer the next 2 inches. It is very tight. I added rust penetrator to the spacer - it helped a little. I changed to a 3/4" square tubing to work the pry bar against instead of wood - I could get better leverage. I was...

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I am getting the spacer 060 off right now! I went to the local Kubuta dealer and ordered my parts, then went to see the service manager. What a blessing they were as well as LA724 and all who've contributed to this thread. I told them about my dilemma and he took me to a mechanic who'd done...

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I iced the shaft for 10 min. to help shrink it. I got the pliers you mentioned above and taped them to keep from damaging the spacer 060. I can barely get a grip on it and I pulled but nothing before the pliers slip off.

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I put ice on the shaft to see if I could shrink it a bit - 10 min. Then I got the pliers you mentioned above (wrapped in tape to save the spacer 060) and tried to pull the spacer out. It didn't work. There is only a little bit of room and I can get a grip, but it slips off w/o moving.

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I sure do. I'll give it a try in a few minutes.

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

No, 60 is still in the seal. It's tight in there and I haven't tried to move it. I don't see a good way to grip it. Perhaps I could use some needle nose. The seal rides on it so I am concerned about scratching it.

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

Oh yes. Clip is out - 1st thing I did.

    Hydraulic fluid leak when hot?

I have the WSM and the parts lists on this computer if you want me to look at anything. When I pull on the shaft, it easily pulls 1/8 inch back and forth. If I pull quickly, it's almost like it's hitting a mechanical stop, almost like a clip around the shaft bumping into the back of the...
