Please Help! Its raining on my new baby!

One thing to keep in mind....If that nice heavy canvas cover freezes in the winter it will be as stiff as a board. If you need to use the tractor to clear snow it could be a problem getting the cover off.

    Question about FEL control valves

I would have thought that I needed the arms to float to follow the somewhat uneven paved surface of my driveway when removing snow. I would think that with the bucket curled slightly down to scoop snow it would not ride up but would follow the surface if the arms are free to float. No?

    Question about FEL control valves

Makes sense to me. Thanks, Tom

    Question about FEL control valves

Another dumb question. I'm planning on using the FEL if the snow gets high this year. Since I don't have float capability with the valves on the tractor now, I'm looking to replace them. If I get a set with 1 float valve and 1 non-float valve, which operation should get the float? Should I put...

Straightening the cutting edge of my FEL

First off, thanks for all the replies. There are several good ideas here. I'll have to rummage around the garage to see what I have to work with. I'll be back with some results. Thanks again, Tom

Straightening the cutting edge of my FEL

The cutting edge of the FEL bucket is not straight. It's bowed down in the middle. Anybody have any ideas how to straighten it? Tom

    Ballast box

Does anyone know what the weight limit is for the 3 point on an old L series? I have an L185 and an L225. The L225 has an FEL and needs ballast but I don't want to overload the 3 point. A little extra traction is all the L185 needs so I won't get close to the limit on that one. Thanks, Tom

    Ballast box

T33Jetman, Can you post pics of how you mounted the snow blade on the bucket? I have a snow blade that doesn't have a vehicle and would love to mount it to my bucket. My business partner (RIP) use to fly T33's. Pretty jet! Tom

    no 5 thru 8 gears

I'm not sure how yours works but my gears 5-8 are the same as 1-4 but with the rear in high range. Gears 1-4, rear in low range. Gears 5-8, rear in high range. Is your rear axle not shifting from low to high?

    PTO shifter fork linkage

I hadn't thought about the ball & spring being under the shaft. Looking at it that way it makes sense that the ball is on top of the spring. The change lever (40) just barely reaches the pin on the fork but the lever looks OK. Maybe the fork is not engaged with the gear and has rotated away from...

    front pto shaft

Yes, definitely. I think the factory pump only pushes about 2 gal/minute. The auxiliary pump is much higher. My FEL is fast, sometimes faster than me! My set-up also has a separate reservoir. It's on the right side, FEL frame up-right, under the control valves. It's a completely self contained...

Which Blade to buy for snow

I plow snow with a County Line 60" rear blade from TSC on my L185. It works well until the third or forth snow and the berms start to get too high to plow the fresh stuff over. Not the blade's fault, it is solid. Tom

    PTO shifter fork linkage

The PTO hasn't worked since I bought this tractor. Now I want to add a snow blower and need the PTO. The PTO change lever (#40 in the picture) doesn't really engage the pin (#39) on the shifter fork(#30). From the looks of the diagram I would think that the pin/ball/spring (39/33/34) assembly...

On my L225 I run a hydraulic pump off of the front spline. It powers my FEL.

    Power Steering conversion

Hi guys, Sorry but I haven't been able to get back here in quite a while. Thanks for all the response and input. I'm gonna do it as well but right now it's time to get the boat ready to be re-launched. Once that and a few other things are behind me I'll be tackling this. Look forward to some...

New to the site, just got an old L175 need some advice

www.tractordata.com maybe able to help determine the year. 5 minutes later: I just checked the site. The best they can do is 1973-1976. Sometimes they have a model year breakdown by serial number. Not this time. Owners manuals and parts manuals are plentiful on the web. Stumpy just got an...

    help with glow plug issue

Jes, I wasn't trying to be negative, I was trying to be helpful. You just joined this site and I didn't know your experience. There have been many newcomers on here who don't know anything about these tractors. I was just trying to make sure you knew the proper procedure. I don't think I'd be...
