Hi!
i bought a bl4690b off facebook, the guy got it at auction. The hoe is missing the pto pump. kubota has discontinued this pump.

My questions are?

If i buy an after market pump with the correct gpm/pressure how do i go about mounting it? all the aftermarkets i see are side mounted instead of flush like the oem unit.

If i hook to the tractor hydros how do i about doing this? do i need a bypass valve of some sort? im not opposed to going this route if its easier then the pump option. the hoe will prob never come off and i dont use the pto for anything.

Thanks in advance im very green with the hydro stuff any help is appreciated..

Thats a lot to answer. Short answer is using tractor hydraulics is easiest but hoe will be slower. What was the flow on the original PTO pump?

Make sure you get the proper heavy duty top link bracket, since it is a 3PH backhoe.

Great risk of damaging the transmission case otherwise.

I have the same backhoe on my B2910 and I have used it A LOT over twenty plus years with no issues. A 3PH backhoe is not as worrisome, as far as tractor damage goes, as many people seem to think.

do you think this is a viable option? will just power be affected or just speed?
Viable if you dont mond the slowdown in speed. Power is a function of pressure so you would calculate it the same way I calculated speed. Do you know what the relief pressure setting is in the backhoe valve?

A PTO pump is easy and painless.
Just slide the pump on the shaft and connect to the plumbing on the BH and go to work.
It will be fast and efficient.

Adding a Hydraulic loop on a L2350 is not easy or cheap, and that pump is small and slow.
It was designed to run the three point and that was it.

As long as you can fit it on the PTO its fine. But they are big and Kubota likes to obstruct that area with things like gaurds, drawbars, and sway brackets....

Measure twice, buy once.

That pump doesn't "mount" it just has an arm or chain that keeps it from spinning on the shaft.

This pic has the bar and chain attached, yes that's all it needs.

You need to measure but I think you would need a PTO shaft extension and some means to support the pump.

Shaft extention would make things easier. The depth of the 'guard' is about 8" and the area under the guard is roughly 10" x 10". However the guard is easily removed (just two bolts). Then there would be plenty of room in every direction for a pump.

There you go. Are you sure it will clear the drawbar and top link bracket?
