What is this piece of metal in my hydraulic filter?

My M7060HDC12 has 432 hours and I blew a hydraulic hose (cheap factory Gates) and since my tractor is almost 500 hours, I went ahead and did a hydraulic fluid/filter replacement.

When I took off one of the filters, this piece of metal was stuck to one of the magnets.

It kind of looks like a tooth off a ring gear.

What do y'all think?

That's a gear tooth.
Doesn't look like a diff gear tooth, it's straight cut, it's more likely a transmission gear tooth.

My guess is Wolfman will be able to tell you which gear its from.

There are quite a few choices of which gear exactly if it is indeed a straight cut gear.
Another possible but very odd place, it could be a hydraulic pump gear tooth.
That would be your best scenario, as it would be an easy and cheaper fix.
Clean it up and take a couple more pics.

Some of the choices:

One other thing comes to mind, is it possible that some used hydraulic fluid was added at anytime in it's life.
Or was it in for repairs anytime in it's life?

Anytime I've worked on a piece of equipment with a broken gear tooth, I have been able to hear a click or change of tone when the broken spot was rotated against it's mating gear.
(especially with straight cut gears)
It has to be a quiet area, wheels jacked up, and use a stethoscope or screwdriver handle in your ear.
Might let you narrow the location down.

I hope it is still under warranty. Looks like it could be an expensive fix.

The most probable is from gear #70 on the bevel gear parts page; I believe that is the one the park pawl contacts.
