1140 diesel overheats every 2-3 months , coolant levels full in radiator and reservoir ,appears to be getting air lock in block, have taken to dealer 4 times they can find no leaks or problems ,purge air from coolant system and return, does it with or without thermostat installed, advise and ideals welcome

I had the exact same problem. I drained all the coolant and when I refilled I used on of those coolant funnels. Let it run with the funnel full of coolant and saw the air bubbles for awhile.

Is the radiator clean?
Are fans working?
Have you flushed and refilled cooling system?

radiator clean, fans working, reservoir at full level, no leaks park on concrete, remove thermostat housing no coolant in top of block and water pump , fill with coolant purge system runs fine two-three months and repeats problem, no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil

beginning to think internal letting coolant go out exhaust

Amen to that. Replacing water pump is part of routine maintenance on these small engines.
questioned that too , as I stated no leaks , circulation thru radiator looks good after purging and running with cap off, where is coolant going and why doesn't it pull from reservoir ?

I don't know about Kubotas, but there was instructions on how to air purge by raising the front wheels up for a Polaris. That worked for mine, and it stopped overheating. I'd try that. You can buy a tool to remove air, but I didn't need that.

@Plowboy7517 - - How did you determine it was overheated? Have you actually measured the engine or radiator temperatures to determine its overheated? Just the gauge?

Not insulting your expertise - - you sound very adept.

Only reason I ask as my BX temperature gauge has read HOT several times.

Second time in, it had only been running 5-10 minutes. Took an infrared laser thermometer to it, and it read 130 degrees....

Turns out the sending unit connection gets wonky occasionally. A little cleaning and all is good.

Happens every once in a while. I always treat my tractor as though it's actually overheating, but thankfully it hasn't to my knowledge.

My chickens are disappearing, why? My shade tree is dying, why? I feel tired all the time, why? My boomerang won't come back and all that jazz.
Problems are solved by systemically testing and observing in order to develop evidence then weighing that evidence to preform more detailed tests and observations. In this case all I've heard that might be used as evidence is #1 coolant is disappearing and there's no puddle on ground #2 even though coolant disappeared, non was drawn from reservoir to replace it. First suspect for #1 is blown head gasket or cracked head. Auto parts store sells chemical to be added to coolant that changes color in the presence of combustion gas. #2 Prime suspect is radiator cap. Caps do wear out and all caps aren't designed for coolant recovery. Try and find someone other than your dawdling dealer to test cap for recovery ability. In combination #1 and #2 suggests possibility of pin-hole leak ( including path through head gasket) that atomizes coolant as it escapes so that it doesn't puddle then on cool down air is drawn in through pin-hole or gasket instead of pulling coolant from reservoir. The same "competent" tech that has ability to test cap can pressure test coolant system. Put those behind you and let us know results before we wag at it some more.
