Looking for some suggestions before I tear down the engine
I have an L4200 that the water flows directly from the radiator to the oil pan very quickly.
I assume there is a freeze plug or o ring that has failed.
I have removed the water pump, and it appears the problem is below the head.
The tractor was running fine but started running hot, so I cut it off and checked the water. The radiator was empty, but the oil pan was full of oil and coolant
Any suggestions

Thanks for the info.
Any way to verify this without taking the gear cover off.
If not, does the governor and oil filter housing have to be removed

got a bore scope?
You could pull the speed control plate and look in there.

You don't need to mess with the governor or the filter housing.

Just pull the speed plate in Blue and remove 2 springs off the arm, then one spring off the pin in the gear case cover.
Pull the crank pulley and off it comes.
