Kubota L4240 When you go to start it, it just clicks and clicks repeatedly. I made a video on my phone but I can't upload it here on the forum. Battery is at 100%. Checked very fuse. Bought 3 starters brand new and swapped in each of them to double check and all yield the same result. Can't get the engine to turn over and it just makes this click click click clicking as long as i turn the key to the right with a little buzzingish sound as well. Anyone got any ideas of what it is and how to fix it? Thanks so much.

OK...So how old and crummy are the battery cables ???

$50 in new cables is a LOT cheaper than THREE nonreturnable starters !

quik test... remove battery from tractor, place on ground, use 'booster' cables direct to starter, what happens ?

Check your grounds, starting at the battery and following the battery cable to its end. Every place it is bolted to the tractor. First, remove the terminal from the battery. It is the one with this symbol on the top of the battery (-) remove the bolt, wire brush, clean, and reinstall the bolt until everything is clean and tight. Then remove the positive (+) cable terminal and do the same. It should go from the battery to the starter. Be extremely careful not to get the cables mixed up. Reinstall the cable terminals on cleaned battery terminal posts and also clean the inside of the terminal. Get a battery terminal brush to do this. Try starting the tractor, and if it still just clicks, then try jumping the tractor from your car or truck. If it starts, you might need a new battery or at least a battery recharge. Many times you can find a label on the batter indicating what month and year it was manufactured. If it is more than 5 or 6 years old, it might need to be replaced. Only replace it after it is checked after being recharged. I have known batteries to last 10 years but that is a rarity.

Hmm, maybe the solenoids are integral to the starter ,like my BX23S is ???

I may not know specifics of that tractor BUT I do KNOW basic autoelectrical101 and a lot of Avionics to make a good guess as to what 'click.....clcick...' is caused when only 2 of 3 things in the circuit were changed.

The 6 the click or the 4th starter would have gotten it started!

Instead of throwing a bunch of parts at it that it didn't need maybe a WSM (aka Service manual) consult might have been better.

First what L4240 is it?
F, DT, GST, HST, DTC, HSTC ?
They all have different wiring and controls.

A starter relay could be bad, a PTO switch could be engaged or bad, a shuttle switch could be engaged or bad, a HST switch could engaged or bad, a wire not attached to the starter solenoid could do it!

Do the light dim or go out when you try and start it?

Have you load tested the battery?

What was the tractor job was it doing the last time it was know to start and run?

Most often it's the simplest thing!
