As long as it meets the specifications that Kubota requires it is good to go. I use super Tech from Walmart. I have been using it for several years and it is quieter than Kubota's Super UDT.

I know that some on here will not like what I just wrote so I expect to get flamed. As the Fantastic Four member Human Torch says; Flame On!

So your local Kubota dealer doesn't stock Kubota UDT ?????

If that's true ,you better pray you never need something like PARTS for your tractor !!!

HST's yes even old ones that spec'd UDT will do better with SUDT2.
A middle of the road alternative is Mystik JT5.
I've been running it for years in my GST, which also does perform well with UDT.

Tractor Supply's Travelers Premium Universal also says it is comparable to Kubota's UDT. Doesn't say anything about Super UDT though.

What size container is that Mobil One oil for $50?

My local TSC manager is also a real farmer, and has 3 or 4 Kubotas. She runs nothing but TSC products in them, and has for a couple of decades. No problems.

The purists among us will tell you that you must use only Kubota branded products, or your engine will blow up, your wheels will fall off, your dog will run away, and your wife will come back to you.

YMMV.

According to Mobil:

"MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE REQUIREMENTS OF KUBOTA UDT"

Dan
Saw that, first tractor and first time buying hydraulic fluid. Found it on the shelf at Walmart after Napa could not locate any until next Tuesday and that was gonna be 175$ so when I saw this for 42$ I thought I’d ask Here first.

I’m sure they do.for a premium, I also don’t go to the Chevy dealer when my avalanche needs parts. Also found a bearing for the trans at Napa today.

I’m not that loyal to the name especially since it’s a 1990 and by now there are some better alternatives available than oem heck I didn’t even buy the gaskets for the case I made them.

A 5 gallon pail of Mobil Delvac THF (aka Mobil Fluid 424) is $75-$85 at farm supply stores. It has been around a very long time and is one of the products the B9600 HST Owners Manual listed by name (Mobil Fluid 423 at that time) as an equivalent for UDT.

Super UDT2 is a different formulation with improved properties and more demanding requirements. That specification was developed in the early 90's.

SUDT2 is a lower viscosity synthetic lubricant offering better performance much like synthetic engine oils perform better than conventional mineral oils. It is the Kubota equivalent to John Deere Hygard Low Viscosity (J20D) and CNH Akcella Hytran Ultraction SSL (MAT 3451). Mobil does not claim their product meets any of those specifications.

Today Kubota recommends the use of SUDT2 in all of their tractors but still lists UDT as an acceptable alternative.

The SUDT2 versus UDT (and by extension third party UTFs) debate is much like the synthetic versus conventional engine oil debate. As a class one is a little better than the other but as long as you change the oil on a suitable interval your tractor will be happy on either.

Personally I use SUDT2 and Rotella T6 5W40 in my pretty new L3901 HST but for decades the old B7200 has seen nothing but $8/gal Traveller Premium UTF and whatever 10W30 diesel engine oil was on sale.

This is from the B9600 HST owners manual. At that time Kubota had not yet decided that there was a lot of money to be made in the Orange Koolaid business and was being more intellectually honest.

I just bought a gallon of the Kubota UDT off of Amazon a few days ago. It was just delivered today.
With all the mystery vendors selling mystery chinese knock off products I buy my SUDT from my local dealers. I want them to keep providing me stocked parts and service at reasonable prices 6 days a week.

My New Holland backhoe calls for their 134D spec in the trans, rear axle, and hydraulics. It has had nothing but the Travelers Premium in all three areas for over 8 years and no problems with any of them.

I was at the Kubota dealer yesterday arranging for the TSB repair for jerky trans to be done. I asked about the UDT2 oil, specifically if that was what would go back in, or if I would have to pay extra for it. He said they ONLY use the Super UDT2 now and didn't stock the older spec oil. Price over the counter was $150 per 5 gallon bucket.

M2C-134D is a Ford specification thats long obsolete and superceded by CNH specification MAT 3525.

For over a decade Viscosity Oil produced all of CNH's oils in the North American market and that particular product was called Ambra Multi-G 134D

CNH switched thrir oil production to Pertronas better part of 10 years ago and its now called Akcela Ultraction. Viscosity Oil contines to market Multi-G under their label and Messicks is a major didtributor of Viscosity Oils entire product line.

Regardless of the name those products are just an ordinary UTF patterned after John Deere's J20C specification. Same goes for Kubota UDT. There are dozens of other functionally equivalent products on the market.

Thanks to the "303 Yellow Bucket" lawsuits and damage awards tractor transmission oils are now subject to new truth in labeling regulations which specify the language that may be used to market them

HAS THE FOLLOWING APPROVALS

The ptoduct has been tested and conforms to one or more OEM standards and has been formally approved by the OEMs

MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS

Has been tested against and conforms to one or more OEM standards but may or may not have received a formal approval

IS SUITABLE FOR USE IN APPLICATIONS THAT SPECIFY THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE

The producer simply claims the product is equivalent to the listed specifications.

In the case of Mobil Delvac THF Mobil certifies it has been tested against and conforms to the requirements of both JD J20C and Kubota UDT but neither OEM has formally certified those tests.
