Good day and congratulations.

I see 3 levers in the pic. Genuinely, I’d recommend read the manual and familiarize yourself with controls, instrument panel/lights and all service points.

(I am not sure the correct terms, but From left to right)
1. Loader control stick
2. Loader lock
3. Orange lever is the throttle

My assumption is you are asking about the 2. Loader lock, correct? (It allows you to lock out the loader.)

I hope that helps.

As RC said the handle locks out the FEL control.

Yes I should have been clearer. Thanks I'll be downloading a manual soon. Looks like the prior owner didn't care much for maintenance on this unit, so I'll changing fluids, filters and grease most of them are bone dry. Any maintenance tips would be appreciated

Just to be clear, you have a BX23S which is a world away from a BX23 which was manufactured in the early 2000s. Make sure you bring a picture of the tractor VIN with you when picking up supplies from your local Kubota dealer. Filters from the dealer don't cost any more, and keep your Kubota all Kubota. For engine oil, I would suggest Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil. You might also consider having an engine block heater installed, or do it yourself for easier starting in the cold Connecticut weather. I am also in CT and my block heater has been a definite improvement for quick starting when the temperatures drop to the freezing point. Also, check the anti-freeze is full strength so you don't wind up with a frozen engine block.

Giving it a "once over" with a grease gun would be in order as well.

Given your location, I might go with a 10W30 or even that 5w40 that Rotella has now.

I have 270K on my truck using Rotella 15w40, and I just did an oil change and switched my flavor to 5W40.

I guess we will see how the next 270K goes.....;)

Dusty,

I think he has the older style 23 ..... not the newer S model.

Looking at the seat and the stick - both seem correct for the older 23.

Just to be clear, there are mutiple versions of the BX23, the BX23D which is what you have and a BX23S which is a much newer version.
So when you get manuals get manuals for the BX23D as the BX23S manuals will be worthless to you.

Here is a video of a BX23D. Note where the loader stick is located.

I never saw a lock on the BX23D that I had operated belonging to a friend. This is why I was thinking that it was a BX23S. Upon more careful examination I can see the dash pedestal.
