Kinda hard to see
but
I think it might be a plastic cover plug that's missing. It's used to cover up the nut that you remove, so you can replace the electrical 'coil' that controls oil flow.
if there's a model number on the valve itself, Google should be able to locate a drawing/picture of what should be there.....

Thanks GreensvilleJay, I’ll check and see if I can find a model number. Thanks for the help!
I don't think that is a plug in the stopper sense. I think you are missing the electrical connector for the solenoid on that end of your valve. Look at the other end of the valve. It should have the same connector.

Here is an example picture of the ISO electrical connector commonly used on those valves.. i think the hex gland nut is the part that's missing on yours. Where is the electrical wire that connects to that end of the valve? Find it and you may find the nut....

Thanks for that oldhokie, I dug up the details of what I’m missing and you’re right, it’s the other side of where the third function wiring from joist controls goes into the valve. It’s a land pride 3rd function kit, but of course I can’t dig up the parts diagrams that specify that plug / hex nut that I’m missing. May need to call land pride for more details.

The valve isn't going to work with it disconnected. Reconnect the wire and the valve will work without the nut.

Unless Landpride got crazy that's a standard ISO (Hirschman) connector with a standard nut. The valve in your picture is different - looks like it is a conduit box version like this one. Again, on these the strain relief is a standard wiring item.

Mine is exactly the same as one in my picture (got the part # from the original invoice) I posted and my third function is still wired and nutted on the bottom and works properly. I’m missing the plug/nut on the other side. I‘ll look at the standard Hirschman nuts. Thanks again!

Sounds like it's got conduit box wiring - no ISO/Hirschman/Deutsch type connector.

All of the wiring is coming in from one end and the top box opening is not being used. There really should be a plug in that opening.

Exactly what I was looking for! Now to find the part # or thread pattern to replace it. Believe it’s a 3/4” standard, but will see. Thanks again for your help!

I dont know what the thread on this Yuken valve is but it's not SAE, NPS, BSPP, or metric. I can't totally rule out BSPP. The plastic plug is .026 undersize but may not be the best thread gage in the wotld. It's a Japanese valve so BSPP would be a good pissibility....

I have learned something new today. In the past I have seen reference to "PG" thread sizes on strain reliefs but never knew what it meant. Now I do and it appears the conduit box plug on my Yuken valve is PG13.5. I am pretty sure you can find these things in the electrical aisle of your local Lowes or Home Depot.

Now to find the orange plug that goes on the other side of the box.
