5740 rough accelerating

5740 hydrostat, I was going up a very steep hill and half way up I decided it was a bad idea, I let the hydro hold my position while I thought about my options. All of the sudden something gives and I'm rolling backwards full speed! Still alive, but now when I accelerate fwd and reverse, it's very rough, almost like something is holding it back, like the brake is on something. Just at the Start from zero to 2mph. It does it in l,m,and h. I don't even know where to start. No error codes

Sounds like you could have very likely damaged the clutch disk or pressure plate.

The dealership spent 13 hours @$135 per hour going through the rear end with no answers. Attached is the service sheet. They offered to take care of the labor if I paid for parts. I had no choice , I had to take that offer. I guess I'll go to another dealer and tell them what isn't the problem.

That's harsh, so you have more problems than just the shutter???

Yes. They hooked up to dyno and said it's only putting out 40 hp but said it could be a number of different things causing low HP. I asked them to do a compression test. They said one cylinder only had 50psi. When I got the tractor home I looked for evidence the compression test was actually performed. I don't see any evidence. All of the injectors/bolts/plugs etc are caked with years gunk. I think they fabricated low psi trying to convince me it wasn't worth fixing the original problem because they don't know what the problem is. Is there a way to perform a compression test without hooking into the glow plug ports?

I'm about 85% convinced that the dealer you took it to doesn't have a clue about how to diagnose or fix tractor issues.
You would have reduced HP output if you have a bad clutch disk, that's a no brainer.
There is no way to perform a compression test without going through the glow plug or injector ports.

What is this loud noise in the rear end?
Make a video of it running that would help a lot.

The rear end noise does exist, but it is not loud. The delearship is the oldest kubota dealer in the country...lol :(. They lifted the tractor up by the ROPS via off road forklift. With the engine off we rotated the rear wheels, and yes you could here a faint noise coming from what sounded like the inside of the differential. I wouldn't think this would have been the cause of my problem but im not a mechanic. Also, with the wheels off the ground, the original problem is more apparent. When slightly accerating (wheels off the ground) the wheels are really Jumpy ,..if that makes sense. I can make some videos tomorrow.

I jacked it up and spun the wheels. Too me just sounds like the gears working normal but there is slight clicking noise. I used a heavy duty 6 ft disc for 3 hours today. Here are my observations

Top speed is only 13 mph
Still acts like a brake is on or shuddering when I accelerate very very slowly (as if trying to move up an inch)
Looks like I have lost power in the higher rabbit gears. In mid range rabbit mode I had it floored and it wasn't moving just whining. Drop it into turtle mod and it would move. One video shows how the auto h-ds mode isn't working right. It should drop to turtle mode from rabbit automatically when it needs more power.
Never ran hot today. Can't believe the dealership went through the rear diff for this? Hope the video links work

I agree, it appears to be a slipping clutch, and leaking exhaust manifold gaskets.
Remove the starter and smell in the clutch housing, you will know quickly. It will be a very distinct odor of burnt clutch dick friction facing.

The tractor has always sounded off to me. I posted this year's ago. Thanks for the help.
