Tack welded in some 3/4" washers and two new 11" bolts,
nothing rides on threads and the slop is gone

Was a real bear getting it all lined up, a one man show with floor jacks, come-alongs and a demo bar,
also nursing a recent shoulder injury/repair, but it is together - never to be apart again at least by me

Had a new pin in the 'metal pile' from an old chipper, a perfect fit and not bent
62 New pivot pin.jpg

3" ID washers should be here Tuesday to take up the final slop in the main pivot point

Got the Big-Ole washers today, that's a lot'a steel, that's why they are $5.75 each

64 3 inch ID washers.jpg

Takes up almost all the play, still rocks a tad-bit but 1000% better
and a much solider ride I am hoping,
raining now so it'll wait for another test run

Added a set of thrust washers and a bearing surrounded with a rubber o-ring as a dust seal
I did not like the idea of the three point draw bar riding directly on the pintle insert
I think I am done with this at this point, paint, maybe next year

I was able to find a little information on this piece.

Was made for David Bradley somewhere around Lubbock Texas and
sold through the Sears catalog in 1958!

Sure hope you still have that!
No need for me now, but I would have loved that when I had a 2,000' driveway.
Used an EA "6 Way Deluxe Scrape Blade" instead, with very good results.
Was also considering a "Huber Maintainer" at the time, but never did find a good one of those.
That would have been a lot more expensive though.

Bill, that's already turning out to be one nicely restored grader!! Especially with your improvements added!

I don't have much use for mine anymore (see post 17) but when its needed it still works great....still in all its rusted glory! LOL! I do need to replace the wood and straighten out the rear stand for the assistant to stand on and operate the tilt wheels. One day....hopefully.

Back to work on this, finally.
Started to break down the wheel pivots
75 Axel pivots removed.jpg

Still a bit of bushing material in there, not going to mess with new bushings,
will probably add zerk fittings for future greasing
76 Left axel pivot bushing.jpg

Removed the height adjusters
78 Height adusters removed.jpg

Missing one of the blade stops,
hopefully my boss, with a forge
will have a piece of 1/4 plate bent shortly.

Decals are done, as are the S/N tag/label

Inspected and re-greased the wheel bearings,
all in good shape for the age, seals are still pliable and useable
78 Wheel bearing inspection.jpg

Springs removed for replacement from the height adjusters

Not sure why this was added, but not stock, so it goes
82 Added blade extension removed.jpg

Now I need a square head nut for the bolt
85 Need a square head nut to replace this one.jpg

What are the chances, pretty good, FOUND ONE - ONLY ONE!

Bill Looks like your getting the old David Bradly all fixed up. If you ever want to really get sick and tired of square headed bolts and nuts start working on some old Aermotor wind mills they are full of them. I have several sets of the square sockets that you show in your picture.

Not sure what purpose they serve, this is not spring loaded like a snow plow?
But installed, none the less

Added a set of tire covers for UV protection, those implement tires are not cheap
