2nd round with the flail mower on the lawn today. Definitely learned a bit from my first try. With all the rain we have been getting the lawn was totally out of control - some of it was 12" high. I really couldn't run the tractor on it until it was pretty dry. Today was the day. Left a lot less ruts from the skid shoes. Learned to adjust the top link to pitch the mower back and riding on its roller. TNT makes it easy to adjust, try and repeat until happy.
The lawn is not level and that's something I have to be careful with. The mower cut well but it was a big mistake to let it grow so high. . .

Thanks but I can't take credit for this side of the house. The po had a really nice lawn here. The other side, not so much. Last fall I ripped it all up with the box blade, brought in top soil, limestone and fertilizer and reseeded it. Its growing even faster than this one

Custom made by me haha. They are ugly but they work. My dad was mowing a new oil lease and caught a rock it came and hit the back wiper motor which swung on the cord and hit him on the back of the head. We can laugh about it now cause he wasn’t hurt but at the time it was an expensive and possibly really dangerous situation. So we made these. Made a square so that I can wipe the glass or change the wiper blade

After popping a FEL hose I went through n replaced the rest of em. Original from what I can tell, they had a good run.

38 hrs on the 3902 and still no regen. I guess I work it hard? Always run 2k RPM and no idling. Anyways, today I used it as a power wheel barrow to move sod I tore out. Then replaced the sod with sand.
Luckily I have a sand pit on the property. Kubota made short work of moving sand. Paid for it's self this month.
Now on to playing lawn Tetris with uneven pavers...

Too wet to do much outside but can run the chipper even if it’s a bit muddy out. Turned a bunch of useless and not very compact brush into much more compact and useful chips. Put a good dent in it today, hope to finish tomorrow.

Mowed again this weekend and another thread on here about a tractor flipping over got me looking at my gauges. I have one on the front and one on the side to check slopes.

Here is an area that I mow across and I don't think much about it and not to bad of a slope.

Here is another spot on the farm and I mow up and down this slope, not across it.

I sent my little BX1880 to my Kubota dealer to get a power steering line fixed and wouldn't you know it, it brought home a friend. I should have known better; leaving it sit at the dealer's unattended. haha

Also got heck of a deal on a small grapple for it at the auction. I have to do some modifications for it to fit on my loader since I think it was made for a Deere.

Having been hit with a 3” diameter seasoned pine knot that came out from under a bush hog, I can attest, it hurts. A lot. It nearly knocked me unconscious and my ears rang for a while. I put chain guards on the cutter after that across the front and on one side to give stuff a way out, but not at mach 3. Don’t have to stop it, just deflect it down so most of the energy is spent on the first bounce.
I think in that case, I literally had some sense knocked into me, because I left the farm and became an engineer. Now here I am wishing I had a farm.

I prefer chipping right after a rain. Helps keep the wood dust down some and prevent quite such a mess on the tractor. Especially if the brush is dry. If it’s green, no worries.

I can relate with all my contracts for mowing and then coming home to keep up with 46 acres can be exhausting. Sometimes I think to move to town and have a push mower and 5 minutes worth of yard work sounds good, but then I wouldn’t have 3 Kubotas to play with and prob neighbours I hate haha. Now days the price of stuff pretty tough to leave a decent size acreage or farm to buy another one down the road, at least around here anyway.

Dusty views. Its very dry but it's calling for rain mid week so I gave this 3 acre section a go over with the chain harrows to loosen the soil. I'll seed it the night before it rains and run a roller over it.

Do you chain harrow your grass every spring? Travelling speed 3-4 mph?
