M6950dt dual speed

Got a question about my m6950dt. It has a lever on the left side of the steering wheel and from what I can find it is a dual speed lever but it seems to not work. If it did do anything what exactly dose it do

I am providing an educated guess. I think you have a feature which speeds up the front to rear axle ratio to assist the front axle in pulling the tractor through a tight turn.

I believe dual speed is a hydraulic two speed within the transmission. A high/low shift on the fly feature many tractors have. The Bi speed turn feature is an option for the front end as Dave stated.

I have seen tractors with dual speed but they were operated with a switch/button somewhere within easy reach, never with a lever. Then again, I'm not familiar with a 6950.

The dual speed lever is push/pull up and down like a headlight high beam switch, not forward and aft like most column mounted levers. Try that while you’re in motion, you’ll notice the obvious shift in speeds.

It dose nothing when moved. Talked to the original owner of the tractor and he is pretty sure it did nothing from day one

Yep, I was wrong and had to look your model up on tractor data which indicates it was only available in a gear drive model. I was thinking it was a hydrostatic like my L47. My gear drive M5 has a lever on the left too but it’s a forward reverse shuttle and you would know if that’s what yours did. Sorry, I don’t have a clue. Is your lever orange? If so, it should be tractor motion related.

The operator's manual shows the lever to the left of the column as being shorter and controlling steering wheel tilt. I guess you could check to see if it controls the wheel tilt.

Nope that's the open station model. My dad has a m7950dt open station. My tilt is a pedal on the floor between the clutch and brake pedal
