New to the foru, but been reading for some time. I am the owner of a new to me 1979 B7100. When I got the tractor home I noticed (after reading for a while) that I was missing the 3 pt hitch lower arms. I read somewhere on this forum to purchase a set from Weavers (item # 7825-1112, 23.5 inch universal 7 piece hitch) - link is below.

Weavers 7 point hitch kit

I thought I had read that it would be a perfect match but something seems off to me. I noticed that the hydraulic upper lift arms on my tractor are maybe a Cat 0? The ID is only 1/2" while the ID of the ball socket on the connect arms is actually 3/4". Are my hydraulic upper arms the right size for this tractor or do I need to upgrade them to a Cat 1 setup?

Also, the lower arms seem really long, but maybe that's just me. Here are some pictures of my setup. At the end of the day:

Should I just get 3/4" to 1/2" reduction bushings and use the items I have OR get new hydraulic lift arms OR did I get the wrong 3 point hitch kit?

Help! (thanks!!!!!!)

Your local Tractor Supply will have bushing to size the links correctly and yes, the arms do look a bit over length.

Thanks! Is there a particular length that most people use with B7100s? I honestly only bought them this long since someone on here had recommended that particular kit. I only plan on using a 48 inch finish mower with it...

You are missing the special stud that fits into the 1/2" hole in the lift arm and provides a protruding pin of bigger diameter for the lift arm.

The interesting thing is that the actual picture they have on the Messick's website doesn't look anytning like the illustrated pin bolt. I'm wondering if maybe just using a 1/2" bolt and some 3/4" bushings will do the same function?

The correct fastener has a large surface to bear on the lift arm to resist bending of the fastener.

I do not know on your lift arms but often the special fastener is tapered to fit especially tight into the lift arm.

Not a place to be taking short cuts when you will have heavy implements lifted in the air.

I have the same tractor a b7100HST and I am looking at getting the same weaver 3 point hitch kit. I have the same problem I don't have the lift arm pins that have a 1/2 diameter thread. In looking for the pins I have found most pins available have a 5/8 thread diameter and a 3/4 pin diameter. What I need is a 1/2 thread diameter and a 3/4 pin diameter. Is there any source for these 1/2 thread diameter pins. Could I just drill out my hydraulic lift arm to 5/8 to use the readily available 5/8 pins?
