Hi All,
Hopefully, someone can help with a question.
I have a b600E which obviously has the smaller PTO shaft that rotates ccw.
I got the PTO adapter that brings the shaft up to standard size and am wondering if I can make a 4ft county line bush hog cut with the CCW rotation?
Any advise on that or the availability of another small bush hog that will work with the B600e?
Thanks

The Grey section of this forum has info on pto reversers. Both home made and factory made.

I came up with this idea for someone who had a large unit with left and right gear boxes and could no longer get the left one.

By flipping the pto gear around and doing some machining I think this would reverse the bush hog blade rotation back to the proper direction for your reverse pto.

A sleeve would have to be made for the gear box shaft to hold the gear in position. Not a big job for a machinist.

Hello.
I formerly had a B6000, so I looked into this a bit (but admittedly never tried); I think since the bush hog is a rear exit it shouldn't matter which way the blades spin, they just need to be sharpened on the opposite side. I'm not sure, but you may be able to just flip the blades over.

Hope that helps, if you try it perhaps post a followup as to how/if that works.

Thanks Dave,
That looks like a good idea. I wonder if the county line gearbox is the same way. As far as the machining, I have a mini lathe and should be able to make it work. Havent got the bush hog yet, it just looks like the only suitable one i can find.

Look at this photo of the underside of a King Kutter bush hog which is the product TSC sells with a different name. The blades are bent lower than the stump jumper disk so turning them over wont work.

I think you will find that there at not that many gear box manufacturers.

The equipment manufacturers buy the gear box and pto shaft from people like Italian Comer.

This image of the gear box from King Kutter parts indicates the gear box is sold as a complete unit for $272. I think its insides will be the same as the one I posted before. If you can read the manufacturer's label on the side of your gear box I may be able to find more info.

On other forums, this brand of bush hog does not have the greatest of reviews.

If you can do some machining and fabrication, making a home made reverser like the one in the GREY section of this forum may be the easiest thing to do and in that way when you find a bush hog you like you are ready to go immediately and should you ever want to sell it again, you will not surprise anyone when it turns backwards for them.

Thanks Dave,
I looked under the county line bush hog at TSC and it has the same kind of blades that cant be turned over.
I emailed the company called sheaffer tractor and they make and sell a reverser for 800$
I have been communicating with them and i guess they make the reverser when you order it and it takes about a week.
I think im going to post another question to see if anyone has ordered one of these and how it worked before i order.

We have it on order waiting to hear from Kubota dealer when it show's up. Our B6000 4WD is in Kansas where we have property. Will advise how it is once it's installed and we can see and check it out. Gave up the search on original reverse running tillers and mowers. Will check with my brother to see when it was ordered I believe it was over a week ago. I would expect we won't get back to check it out until mid July.

Another Possible option, I just found out there are companies such as Messicks that sell
the blades for bush hogs that are made for CCW rotation. They are the same size, same type of mount, and have the same offset, why wouldn't this work?
I guess some of the big brush hogs have multiple spindles and as such, they have blades in the center that cut CW and on the outside that cut CCW.
will advise on my progress.
