Your wish is my command:

All be, My B7100 has an aluminum pan, I figured they all would, that's what I get for thinking.
And the aluminum pan is ribbed, so no flat surface to glue something on them. :(

Interesting.

My tractor, built in 1994, had a replacement short block about 1 year before I got it. Could it have a different pan?

When I look up the oil pan on Kubota Canada's parts catalog, I get part #15371-01614. All 5 variants (new vs old, 2wd vs 4wd) of the B7100 listed on the Canadian site show that part number. Is it because Kubota automatically updated superseded part numbers in the listings?

For some reason, I can't find a photo of that part from an online Kubota retailer. The only photographs I can find are in this eBay listing, this Grasshopper parts listing, and this Sailnet forum posting which are all clearly similar steel stampings, but not necessarily authoritative, and none of which mention the B7100.

Google also told me that my part number supersedes part #15371-01610, but refuses to cough up any photos whatsoever of that fellow.

So I am left wondering: Is the steel pan a Canadian thing? Is it an age thing? Is your engine older or a replacement from another application (eg: reefer)?

All three of the B7100 tractors I have owned have had steel oil pans. All were older models late 70's early 80's.

I talked to the PO today and he believes my pan is original to the tractor -- he thinks the pan on the replacement motor wouldn't fit the tractor. Even if he is wrong about that, he is certain the original was steel as he originally used a magnetic pan heater the year after he bought it (1995/6).

I wonder if Kubota supplied finned aluminium pans to warm climate markets to aid engine cooling?

Possible. My '79 and another '80 I know of both have aluminum pans, both sold in Arizona.
