I just picked up my first Kubota today. Please help me with year, serial number is, B7100HD60843. It has 6 lug front wheels?

I bought it from second owner. Unfortunately, no service records. It has about 1,300 hours. I paid $3,500 for it. Looks and runs great.

I'm new to diesels, now I just need to change all fluids/filters since I don't know it's past. I've ordered a service manual. Any ideas on location of video maintenance gobys until my manual gets here?

I plan to use it to push snow and also to mow. I guess I'll pickup a used belly mower or used finishing mower somewhere.

Thoughts are appreciated, thank you.

Exact year built is not really relevant to anything. Tractors and equipment unlike cars do not go buy year, rather then a particular model in a series. I do believe the 6 lug B7100 makes it the second series reintroduced in the mid 90's. Regardless of that any parts for a B7100 no matter what build year will fit and different models are interchangeable.

Budrow Welcome to OTT.

Great that you ordered WSM service manual. You will also most definitely want to get a complete parts manual for your tractor. You may also want to pickup an owners manual as it covers the more routine things as far as using the tractor and routine maintenance. The WSM, which is a great tool, is more for tear down and rebuilding. You will find that you will use all three.

Check out the service videos done by Serv Dept Vic right here on OTT. They are a great help.

Here is a link to the Videos area:

Where you are new to diesels may I suggest you read some of very recent posts regarding replacing fuel filters before you start. That may help you when it comes time to bleed the air out of the fuel lines. Others have had issues of not being able to keep tractor running after filter swap.

Here is someplace to start:

You didn't mention gear or HST, but either way you should be able to find out the year here:
http://www.tractordata.com
I'm not sure why but the year data on that sites information is way off, my serial numbers don't agree with their numbers for year made.
If you read the note at the top of that page it also says something different about the years, they took a break in making the B7100 and there is a gap in time.

If your tractor is an HST with 6 lug front wheels it's a newer model.
4 lug front wheels in HST or gear then it's an older model.
Also interesting to note the newer models were only made in HST so if it is gear it's an older model. ;)

Leafy England....
just to follow-on , as the other guys have said really.
the serial number thing is only really of any use when ordering parts to be honest as revised parts are quite a common occurence on these models.

The last of the B7100's have the revised front axle, still a 6 stud fitment but have the revised axle with the much improved newer hubs and axle drives etc. same as on the newer B6200,7200, 8200 etc, also on 1550/1750 etc, also available with Bi-speed steering.

Thanks for all the insight, I certainly appreciate it.

It is an HST model. Kubota told me it's a 1990 model.

Seems to run like a champ, I guess the 1,300 hours of use from 2 previous owners didn't hurt it any.

I just spent an hour on it clearing snow from driveway. It's fun to use.

News to me, I learn something new everyday.

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember someone else saying the same thing a while back. Maybe it only works for old ones like my '79. Original owner notes, receipts, 2nd owner stories, the original dealer, & Tractor Data all agree that mine is a '79 sold in 1980.
