What is this unused pulley for? L4060

The belt is not touching it...

Parts diagram shows it being the tensioner for the A/C belt.

Thanks. The belt is tight, but not touching that idler / tensioner at all. Once the belt stretches, I guess I’ll have to adjust it.

I don't think there is any adjustment of that idler.
I think it's just there to keep the belt from getting eaten by the supports.

The M9 has it as well. Don't believe it's ever turned in all the years I've owned it. Guide only.

It might just be a 'in case helper' when the belt gets slack and 'whips' back and forth.
I KNOW if you remove it, sooner or later ,you'll wishe you hadn't !!
