What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I just got home from work…we have ambient temperature At 31F, 45mph wind, snow, sleet and rain not to mention I am older than I was last year…that cab sure looks toasty.

Our place up North is gonna get a good pounding (high wind and lake effect) the next few days and I realize that not only am I getting older but that cab sure looks TOASTY.

did I mention that cab looks toasty (you got me thinking about my preferences for sure with the enclosed tractor porn.

It's a wet cold at present so the cab is particularly nice. It gets so hot in there that I end up turning the heat way down and selecting outside air. Heat has never been an issue in that cab, even on the coldest of days when the temperature is in the -20°F or colder range.

Keeping the cab nice and cool is more of a challenge on really hot days when the tractor is working hard out in the sun. A full tint would help, but I think insulation above the headliner would do the trick. I'll get to it eventually. In comparison, the M6060 cab is an ice box on hot days.

Moved snow today. Not allot but got my snow legs practice. With talk of allot of snow this year, if it happens, will be ready.

About ten years ago I bought a DR Pro330 lawn & leaf vacuum trailer. Initially used it behind a JD X360, and now behind my BX2380. The mower deck shreds the leaves somewhat, then the vac shreds them even more, so I get an (advertised/claimed by DR) 330 ft³ of leaves per load. The Dr vac does a really good job and is easy to unload. I've filled it 17 times so far this season, and about half the leaves are still on the oaks, so I'll likely end up with about 25 loads by season's end.

I’m constantly on vigil watching for one that I can restore or repair. Seems like any that are put out to pasture are too far gone to bother. Restoring them would cost more than a new one. Anyone with a lot of leaves and the money for a vac tends to keep it till there’s no repair possible. Can’t say I blame them.

Something easier to dump would be a blessing. For now, I line the little trailer with a cheap tarp and pull the leaves out that way. It’s pretty quick, but not as easy as it was when I was in my 50’s. 70 aint far off, and all the old injuries from when I was young, dumb, 10 feet tall and bulletproof remind me that was a false sense of security, not a fact.

Next option is gonna be to build a custom knockoff that fits my needs.

Leaves, leaves, leaves. Three houses/yards. 600’ of gutters. A couple short sections of road. A couple foot paths by the houses we keep clear of leaves.

Serious question, why don’t you burn instead of move leaves so much?

I live on 7 acres, all wooded, and have a cabin on 60 in a 1 acre clearing. I blow leaves off the patio and foot paths at home into big rows away from the house and back burn downhill—twice each fall. Takes about two tanks in the blower to do each time.
I prescribe burn entire 7 acre hillside at home every other year in February or March, and most of the 60 acres every 2-3 years. Good for the soil, native forbs, and wildlife of every type out there too.

Tractor is used to mow/maintain dozed trails/firebreaks out at the cabin but backpack leaf blower is all I use at home to create firebreaks , too hilly and rocky for tractor use.

Edit: I should add that I am not in city limits, don’t have a grass blade of lawn at home, and Arkansas is a very burn friendly state (and weather conducive to burning so few restrictions).

Beautiful scenery for sure, glad it's 68 degrees in Texas this morning.

It's 5°F here this morning! First thing I do after letting my dog outside is get the fire going, then I make coffee. It's a beautiful sunrise and it's warm in the house so all is good.

Thursday we used the L3901DT to move firewood from outside storage to the shed where our wood burning boiler is.

Friday we used the L3901DT and grapple to move logs to our splitting/outside storage area to be blocked up, split and stacked. It was in the mid 30's, the best temperature for splitting firewood. I'm not a fan of firewood that heats me twice.

We were going to do some more splitting today, but it is snowing.
