A video has now been leaked to the press showing the police in the hall, for an hour, outside the classroom where that a-hat was killing kids.

The officials there have made things so much worse for the parents by not releasing EVERYTHING they had - right away. It's not like you need to protect the rights of the a-hat, he is dead. It's been 7 weeks. . .

Now the parents get to relive the horror and still not know what information hasn't been presented to them.

I can not even imagine how those parents keep their sanity.

I watched the news report showing clips of the video and it is so sad to see help just standing there. All the active violence training I have attended has centered around the first three officers arriving on scene making the entrance to neutralize the threat. As EMS we were part of the second response team in to start treating wounded and moving them out of the danger zone with one officer assigned to us.

It appears that three minutes from the start of the situation, there were more than three officers there that were able to take action, but none was taken except retreating away.

How, as an officer, do you stand before the parents and explain your actions? These were children that the school district and I'm assuming the officers had a duty to protect.

I'm sickened by the heartless actions of the murder.

I'm saddened by the response of those officers and what appears to be their dramatic failure.

😢

There is a huge difference between dressing up in battle gear playing 'he-man' hero and having a true enemy with live rounds trying to kill as many of you as they can before they turn and run or die.

I bet most of those on the scene never expected to actually put their life on the line in a sleepy little town.

The officers were trained and had a shield to point a rifle through.
The shooter was untrained.
I would have gone in with that equipment and I have no training but something goes off in me when kids are in trouble.

Exactly. This is why we need combat experienced ex-military, not cops (no offense to any cops out there) at these schools. We have no shortage of these folks in the US--unfortunately.

Has any of these people been fired or lost a penny of pensions yet?

Thought so…

Yes, it was a fiasco from the beginning and a huge embarrassment to my State.

There was failure on several levels and it cost some number of innocent kids their lives.

Intervention 'should' have occurred within minutes.

If I remember right, one of the parents was a police officer, and arrive at the scene, and wanted to go in himself, using that shield that was there and maybe some other equipment, since the offices on the scene were just standing around, but they refused to let him go in...

This was a media report I remember reading, and have no idea if true or not. BUT I would not be surprised if it was indeed true.

Henro, you can see them restraining that officer in the video. That and officers using the sanitizer on the walls to ensure their hands are clean……

With the way public sentiment is, damned if you do, damned if you do not.
Imagine if the LEO's had stormed the room and that caused the shooter to kill a few more or if friendly fire killed a kid? That LEO would be facing jail these days.

I believe you. A mom with zero training, no shield, and no cowardice went in there.

There is ZERO excuse for every cop who stood around outside. ZERO.

Nope, we settled that, "I vass only followink orders!'" crap at Nuremburg.

Zero excuse. They are ALL cowards.

This not even CLOSE to a debatable situation. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Those LEOs should be facing prison.

What's another question is why in my state we have an ARMED teacher law that allows school districts to train & allow a group of teachers to carry for just such an event. Uvalde has had such an increase in crime in recent years that haveing armed teachers should have been in use.
All seven school districts in my county here in East Tx is useing the armed teacher . The general public does not know which staff member is the gun totter. One district, Union Grove ISD, has big signs on the entry drives letting people know that there are people ready to defend thier students. Will these people actually be able to defend the students is an unknown but it's probably the easiest way to discourage theses nut jobs.
Also it's time for a quick trial if the nut is still alive, one appeal at sentence, then that night give em the injection. No lingering around in a cell for 20 or 30 years

Hogwash. All that was needed was some actual men.

A mom went in there. Pretty sure she didn't have combat experience.

I would agree with you but I at this point we are running out of actual men-- unless you include the mom, the ONLY man in the group.

I don't think there is any difference in courage between men and women.
Try to harm kids and you better stand well back.

Those "police" are a pathetic waste of tax dollars and deserve, at minimum, manslaughter charges for diddling their phones, standing around, and sanitizing their hands while innocent children were being murdered. The extreme irony of the officer having the punisher as a phone background was disturbing as well being that the punisher was/is a symbol of vigilante justice when law enforcement cannot be counted on.

They should be made an example of by the legal justice system. Sadly, this will probably not happen...

Those LEOs should have tried their damnedest to mitigate further casualty as soon as possible, there is no excuse to stand back and wait for things to play out. This isn't a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

The only positive thing that has happened after this tragedy is that coward scum police chief resigning from the city council position that he had no place being in. Now it is time to drain the swamp over there and throw them all in prison.
