I have a 1995 Kubota b20 which I have completely re-done. I was speaking to a few of my Kubota friends and there has been some discussion on what type of hydraulic to use in my machine, other then the Kubota UDT version. What grade and brand should be used in this machine? Any other opinions out there? I would like to hear some other recommendations. Thanks

Is that a HST model ? I believe it is ..........

I would use S-UDT2 .... expensive - yes, worth it? Yes!

there are others that have HST models and they have used other specific brands name oils that are supposed to EQUAL the kubota udt............- some say just as good....

BUT just cause it says on the side of the container - "meets - kubota specs" ....... does not mean your HST will be happy with it ...... and IF that HST pump or innards go out - you will wish you paid once and are trouble free.

I WOULD not get a 5 gallon pail of good ol fashion UDT from an ag supply house.

This is an occasion that more is more - the S-UDT 2 oil is more expensive but full synthetic and in your cold climate will allow the hydraulics to flow better and to work quicker in the cold.
Another added benefit - the HST noise will be quieter too.

Second-That! If you buy any other than Kubota’s recommended.... and you ever have the tractor act up... you will Wonder... and Wonder.... and chase-about for solutions.... instead of having the satisfaction of KNOWING at-least.... it’s NOT the fluid!

I advocate SUDT2. NorthIdahoWolfman also likes a Mystic product. I haven't seen it around here.
Like Thunder chicken said, I've seen some synthetics that cost more than SUDT2.
One thing's for sure: after you pay for that stuff, you'll be more alert for leaks and keep them repaired!
