I went to put my factory steel wheel spare tire on my truck (2017 Ford F250) a couple weeks ago. The lug nuts bottom out on the lugs before the wheel is tight on the hub. I have aftermarket aluminum wheels and the lug nuts designed for the aftermarket wheels.

Just an FYI if you put aftermarket wheels on your truck. Your spare may be unusable. Luckily I did it in the daylight and could see that the spare wasn't tight on the hub.

When they put after market wheels on, they are supposed to tell you to hang onto the lug nuts. Miss by that dealer. Both of mine gave me a little bag with the right number to keep near the jacks.

I'm glad you noticed!

Yep. I put 35" Nitto Trail Grappler M/T on in 2017 right after buying the truck. Tire tread to tire case seperation at 33,000 miles. Only on one tire. Didn't trust driving it so went to put on the spare. That was a no-go.
Fortunately I bought 5 aftermarket wheels. Left one in storage. Now I have to buy a spare tire as my factory spare is 17" and aftermarket wheels are 18".

Anyway. Check your spare usability. If I'd have been in the dark alongside a hiway somewhere, it could have been ugly.

I have aftermarket wheels on my Rhino. The spare is a stock front steel wheel, with a set of stock lug nuts attached to it.

Whenever I upgraded the rubber and rims for my rides, I bought a set of FIVE. One tire shop said 'what , 5 ?, like I was an idiot.why would I need 5?' I literally left there, went across the street, to the competition and ,yup bought FIVE. That shop got my all business(+ friends, family, word of mouth, etc) for 25+ years

Not to start a pissing match, but that looks like impact damage from the pics, that’s not just tread separation.

It's all good. If you look at the outer tread on the one picture that shows more of the tire you'll see tread seperation along the edge in several places.

I could literally lift the tread away from the casing at several places.

I don't fault the tires, as they have been great tired and are past warranty. And they didn't blow apart.

I heard a flapping noise before I saw the problem, and I stopped twice to check the tires once I heard it. And everytime I checked, the missing tire tread and the raised section was side down. I only finally noticed it when I got to my destination.

I did go with another brand to replace them. And I'd still recommend Nitto or Toyo tires.

Your Ford factory lugs IIRC are flat on the bottom and longer. Aftermarket wheels require aftermarket conical lugs. You can use your spare but you'll need to pick up some factory lugs unfortunately.

Good to know.

I love my Falken Wildpeak A/T's on my Jeep Mojave, so I went with Falken Wildpeak M/T's on the Super Duty. The M/T is a newer tire for them, but I'm giving them a try.

Why do I have to click on the greyed out area to see to answer?
I was wondering the same thing??
Fordtech86 did it on purpose, it called a spoiler, Only click on the fuzz if you want the answer, It hides text till you click it, Usually done when you don't want to give away the answer without input from the reader.

Aaha, those young wippersnappers know all the computer secrets.

I was thinking maybe half of the off topic subjects should be that way and then folks might not complain about those topics in a tractor forum. But then, their curiosity would grab them and they'd have to look and see and we'd be right back to the complaint.

Oh well, thanks for the explanation. Never seen it in use before.

D2, you can do it by going here (I’m sure it’s similar on PC)

Type in between the spoiler (but don’t delete the spoiler quotes.)
simple as that 😜

You guys are getting way too sophisticated, I have a challenge getting a hyd. filter off and you're trying to complicate how to get information on how to do it.

OK, just HOW do you get RID of MS 'news and interests' out of the search box in WIN10 ,cause the 4 methods google finds don't work !
