Looking for a trailer to haul my B2650 with FEL and Rear Blade. Currently have a year and a half old 6x12 single axle utility trailer that I’ll be trading/selling. Length with FEL and Rear blade is 16’ 8”. Currently considering 7x18 or 7x20 utility trailers and car haulers. Tow vehicle is a Chevy Tahoe rated for around 8,500 lb. This will be for trips to a cabin and for service. Will likely be adding some implements to plant food plots. Any advice would be appreciated.

A 18’ or 20’ dual axel, with brakes on both, would handle the load nicely. Invest in a load stabilization hitch, and high quality tow ball, it will double your tow capacity. Also up grade the tires if it’s an option

Bearskinner nailed it perfectly.

I tow mine with an 18' Pequea and it's tight with the Landpride rotary mower on. 20' would be better, but I got a heck of a deal on the 18 due to bad paint.

Mine is a "landscaper" trailer with low rails on front and sides and a full width expanded metal ramp on the back.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve definitely narrowed it down to tandem axle with brakes. I’d prefer 20’ over 18’, but 20’ 7,000 GVW is very hard to find, especially in a landscaper. Most of the 20’ landscape trailers I’ve come across are rated for 10,000 lb. However, my current tow vehicle isn’t rated for it and it takes the price up another $800-1,000. I’ve been able to find several 20’ car haulers rated for 7,000 lb, but I’m concerned I’d miss having some sort of railing or side for other projects. Then again, it would be nice to side load on a car hauler. No ATVs yet, but my kids are young and could see that as part of our future.

I’m in the same boat. Searching for a trailer for my b2650.

PHPaul does the wheel on the rotary mower hang off the back of a 18’ or does it all fit inside the trailer. Asking for looking at trailers with a gate on the back. Would like fel and mower to close up inside the gate of a 7k landscape.

Something similar to this is what I’ve had my eye on 18’ 7k w/ brakes on both axles, folding rear ramp. Afraid the wheel to a rotary cutter won’t fit inside with fel on.

My B2650 with 48" Woods rotary cutter on an 18' trailer.
The mower hangs over about 1'.

When you guys reference trailer length as 18' or 20' are you meaning 18 or 20' trailer bed or total trailer length? I need to get one to haul my L2501/5ft cutter/boxblade.

Beckmurph, thanks for the pic. This pretty much confirms I’ll stick to a 20 foot bed. I know it’s easy enough to take the gate off in order to overhang, but then where do you store the gate to get the tractor back on the trailer? This predicament makes a car hauler appealing since the ramps can slide in underneath. But usually with a 20 ft car hauler the last 4 ft is a dovetail, so it’s not exactly usable space to rest an implement and take the weight off the 3pt hitch.

I use a 20 foot car hauler tilt bed. No ramps/gates or dovetail to mess with. The bed has stake pockets so I made some wooden rails that I can take off and on when needed. Little more money to start but worth it to me.

It would, but I have a rack on the front from when I was hauling hay with that trailer so I hoist the bucket up and rest it on top of the front rack.

That lets me pull the tractor far enough forward that the rear gate/ramp closes and also helps get the tongue weight right.
