I'm wanting to buy a tiller for my Kubota B7100 and considering the King Kutter (TG-48-YK) at TSC. It's $1499. I've read where folks of had to shorten the PTO shaft for their CUT. Does anyone have experience with this tiller and the B7100? Would I need weights on the front? Will it work with my 3PH? Never owned a tiller so I'm trying to get smart.

TIA,
Brad

In short, yes, yes, and yes. I have a 7100 gear drive, a 48" KK, as with many new implements the pto shaft must be fit to the tractor, and yes weights helped greatly.

shortening a shaft is no big deal. have a reciept saw or even a hacksaw? follow the instructions in your manual with the KK.

easy peasy, kytim

Tim, thanks for the response. What have you found to be the best approach when using the tiller? Should I be aware of any gotchas when using the tiller? I have a belly mower on my B7100. I assume I'll have to remove it when using the tiller? I have turf tires. Do you think that will be a problem? Can you attach the tiller by yourself? Thanks again.

I encourage you to buy the heavy duty King Kutter tiller.
TG 48 I believe.

Best approach:
Make the first pass at a shallow depth.
Drop the height for the next pass.

Not sure about the mower.
Depends on how high it sits.
I would remove so as to not drag it thru the mud.

Turf tires may slip a bit.

You should be able to attach on your own.
The first few times will be a struggle.
You will get the thechnique after a few tries.

I completely agree!! hardest part to get the hang of is prop shaft connection but, that comes too.

Not addressed yet- the turf tire question. Mine does fine with turf tires. You aren't pulling a plow- you are controlling the speed of the tilling. You will want to turfs for mowing, so I would stay with those.

Alright- I gave the 7100/KK 48" tiller a good run today. I am amazed and pleased with how well they did! I tilled up two gardens, and then layed off rows with a potato plow. The 7100 powered and handled the KK tiller wonderfully, and my new homemade stabilizers are the cat's meow! They hold the side-to-side weight of the tiller great. My parents house is about a half mile from my house, using an old fire road that was cut up the ridge many moons ago. It is rough and rocky, so there was lots of jostling around. The stabilizers are performing flawlessly.
All in all, my 7100 is great in the garden! Small and nimble, efficient, and a joy to use.

Picked up the TSC CountryLine TG-48 (King Kutter) tiller the other day. This is heavy duty and will be a hard working tiller. I have mine attached to a B7500.

Shorting the shaft was not too bad but at first I measured several times as I did not what to cut it wrong and then have to buy another one. All good now and running fine.
