Harbor Freight had their towable trencher on a big sale earlier this month. I have some projects that, at the price, it made sense to buy one vs renting something so I placed my order. Shipment arrived today. Truck had a lift gate, but the pallet jack wouldn't work on the stone drive. I was able to use the BX and chain hooks to slightly lift the front of the pallet and pull the crate off the lift gate.

Then instead of having to break the crate down outside in the cold and haul all the pieces in to the garage to assemble the trencher I was able to to use the FEL with chains to move the whole crate over to the garage where I can work/assemble everything in a heated space.

Only hiccup was getting over the lip at the garage door. Had some scrap lumber to make a ramp.

No idea what the actual weight is. Website says about 1200lbs shipping weight, although it didn't seem that heavy.

Still would have been much more unpleasant if I had to break everything down in the driveway and carry the pieces in one at a time.

Gonna save what I can.

I hear you about the price of lumber. I have been getting creative about using pallets for stuff since I get them for free from my work.

Will do. I am hoping to get it put together this weekend.

Regular price is $3499. They had $400 off…..so that covered tax and the $100 delivery. Could have gotten an additional 10% off with their CC, but I decided not to go that route. Total delivered was $3448.

I do hope that you have very light sandy soil.

The Heavy-Duty capability is sitting in the seat! (although I shouldn’t be sayin’ anything)

It’d be more convincing if they showed that bucket full of dirt.

Jeremy… I do hope you’ll show us some pics of it working.

Based on the picture I'd bet the bucket drags the entire machine forward when bucket is filling. Probably need some angle welded to the bottom of the feet with one leg of the angle going down a few inches!

But.... it sure beat a shovel or sharp shooter!
