The impeller needs to come off my farm king 600sb but I can’t seem to coax it off. I’ve removed the 2 bolts that I thought hold it in place. It is about 20 year plus old. Does it take more than just 2 bolts to remove? Any useful advice appreciated.

from the diagram, looks like key #50 is what secures the fan blade assy to the shaft.Odds are real good the assy is a bit 'rotated' from the shaft due to the constant pressures of snow on the blades. you may have to 'whack' it back the other way, to squarely align the assy, key and shaft THEN whack the assy off.
This all works a lot better in a warm garage, with the assy/shaft OFF the blower of course....
The little key (#51) may secure the bearing ?
It 'might' be possible to place over blocks, with the shaft dangling below, them rap sharp blows to a cutoff bolt that replaces #58. That depends on how much of the shaft is shown. Just don't destroy the internal threads the bolt goes into.....

I appreciate your detailed explanation. I can’t tie up my wife’s covered parking space for an unknown repair time. I had hoped it would be a simple 2 bolts, pb blaster and a a possible modified pry bar type job. I think it’s time for the local shop for repair and possible parts replacement. I had planned on pounding the bent fan blade ends flat, grinding the ends level and then using 2 layers of conveyer belt bolted to the ends supported by flat bar to help improve blowing efficiency. I have been thinking about ordering the 4 blade fan for this as well. Farm king still had replacement parts for this older blower and all the parts still turn smooth and easy.

I tried to remove the fan on a different brand of blower but essentially the same configuration.
The welded on triangular piece of steel on the upper left part of the fan opening needs to be removed...... i.e. the welds cut. This is so the fan can come straight off the shaft.

In my case in spite of a well equipped shop with torches I ended up going to a steel fabrication shop who built a big hydraulic puller and welded stuff to the fan for the puller to pull on. I think they were around 20 tons of pulling before the fan started to move and the total blower box was distorting.

When the fan was finally off, they discovered the manufacturer had installed the fan with the keyway not in line with the result that the key was carved by the end of the shaft. I guess the assembly guy just stuck the fan up on the shaft and used a big impact gun to draw the fan unto the shaft.

Unless you are skilled enough to weld pull points unto the fan and have the material to build a puller you may be in for a world of frustration.

I had tried two 10 ton hydraulic duck bill spreaders behind the fan with no movement. Bill slide hammer to try and shock the assembly..................

Sometimes you will get lucky and it comes off but the piece of steel blocking part of the opening needs to come off
