Have a new LX3310 with about 4 hours on it. I ran it at 2K rpm around the yard to pick up some branches to go into the burn pile. When I brought it back into the garage and before throttling it down I noticed it was blowing out black smoke. Is this just normal for a new engine?

Something is amiss -

I would start it up again - and see if it continues and then if so - get the dealer involved.

The diesel you placed in it ....... from the factory still or you place it in??

Check the air filter just for the hellofit - see if somehow a mouse built a nest in there - I doubt it, but weird things do happen.

I would say - call the dealer!

Black smoke is usually too much fuel or too little air. Check the air path (including inside the air filter) to ensure there are NO obstructions and the filter itself is clean. If you have good air flow start the tractor again. If black smoke persists it's time to contact the dealer. You as an owner can't do anything about too much fuel. Of course a rodent could have chewed a sensor wire somewhere causing the problem.

Did the smoking 3310 get resolved? Anxiously waiting for outcome.

Me too, black smoke on a brand new common rail dpf outfitted engine sounds wildly abnormal.

Hello - I came across this thread and thought I should post/seek some advice. I have had my LX3310 since new and it has smoked since new. Sometimes constantly, other times intermittent - blue and stinky smoke rather than black. Took to dealer they could not ID the issue but we notified Kubota Corp as well who said they would contact us with a fix when available. I thought about selling it, but there was just too much smoke, even after a regen. Then, one day mid 2022 I was working it and it threw an engine light and code, I immediately off'd the PTO, idled down slow and shut down. Engine temp was fine when this occurred but it was a hot day. 2 hours later I went back out to start it as per dealer and the light was off and the tractor never smoked for about 16 months, until early Nov 2023...and here I am calling the dealer again today. Any input is appreciated. I really enjoyed this unit over my last, but this smoke is a deal breaker.

This just in - we purchased the tractor from what I feel is a very solid dealer. They called right back this AM and advised they only recently got a fix in for the LX3310 issues. I am told it is 6hr fix and includes the ECU. They are coming to pick it up at noon, will update in a few days.

Great to hear - and even better that the dealer is standing up and taking care of business.

When I was shopping for my new Kubota just over a year ago, I was ready to purchase the LX3310 that my dealer had on the lot. The dealer owner talked me into the LX2610 that had to be sourced from another dealer. He insisted that Kubota had not yet solved all the emissions issues. Last April they stopped selling Kubota products altogether. After almost 40 years with this dealer all my information was transferred to another Kubota dealer.

Good to hear, the only smoke I see is white and it occurs in the warm up process. I have heard from other owners they also have this experience.

After cleaning my air filter I put the cover on the wrong way.......vent facing down. The tractor looked like a steam engine and had no power when running. I moved the cover to the proper place and had no issues.
