Sitting on the back porch this morning watching the sun come up. The crows were talking, and making a strange twittering call, and then back to caws. I thought maybe it was some call for the young but I have not seen any in the pine grove. I know they make a lot of sounds but this is one I have never heard before, any ideas?

Crows are very intelligent critters.

I've heard some odd sounds back-and-forth among themselves. Obviously communicating to each other.

Bet it means something to them....

Prolly has to do with the young in the nest. That's my guess.
Or the crow has mental issues...

Years ago, when starting to build our house, I was doing some framing, and a crow came down and landed on my shoulder. I found it amusing.

He hung around for a few day, and at the time we had a CJ7 jeep with a hard top, and if we left the house he would land on the top of the roof and ride for a while, I guess until we got to a speed where he was kind of forced off the roof due to air pressure. I saw this when my wife left, and I was still at the house.

I remember one time going up the road about a hundred yards, and slowing down to make a left turn. There is a house at that point, and the woman was outside doing yard work, and the crow left the roof and flew over and landed on the woman's head.

I still laugh when I remember this. "I can't stand it, I can't stand it" she was screaming. Made the turn and never looked back...LOL

It was summer and no AC in the old jeep (not much of a heater in winter either)...so easy to hear what was going on outside...

Not crows but, In the past week I have Cardinals hanging on and pecking my truck side view mirrors. They poop all over the doors. What a mess! Ive also had them do this to windows on the house and garage! Crazy birds! I do love cardinals though. When I was a boy a male flew into the neighbors window and was laying on the ground. He picked it up and it began to struggle. My neighbor wound up pulling out its tail feathers and it couldn't fly. I took the bird and kept it in the house in an old parakeet cage I had until it grew its feathers back. The day I released it it took off flying low right across the street heading for the neighbors pine tree. On the way it flew right passed the neighbors German Shepard who jumped up and almost grabbed the bird. It was almost lights out for that bird.

Nice job saving the cardinal. Prolly needed a flight pen to get back into flying shape. I'm sure it was a happy birdie!

I was finding bird crap all over the doors to my truck, I couldn't figure out why both doors were getting crapped on.

One day I saw a cardinal 'fighting' his reflection in my truck's door rear view mirror, crapping like mad as he gave it to the reflection. :ROFLMAO:

Same thing here but Robins.. I had one that would sit on the patio chair and watch its self in the slider. Then it would fly missile style right into the glass.. tuff birds! This was a few years back, dunno what's different now.. don't attack the mirrors anymore either..

There is a great app called Merlin that will help identify birds by sound and/or picture. It's free, and pretty accurate. Tied to Cornell Ornithology.

I just realized that crow must be an illegal immigrant!

Takes time for me to realize the truth sometimes... :ROFLMAO:

When the crowing happens at my wife’s house(it’s her house, I am not delusional) I go outside until it’s time for dinner or they leave…whichever comes first. 😂
