I bought my B2710 in June with 920 hours on it. I was thinking I should probably do an oil change. Should I also change the Hydro fluid as well since I don't know when the last time that was changed? Or is that fluid good for a long time?

I would change fluids and filters just to be safe. On used tractors I have discovered water in the transmissions before.

What does your manual say? Mine says the fluid should be changed every 600 hours (and the filters every 300 hours, which I find curious). I would change. You will have a chance to assess the condition of the fluid and decide if you need to flush the hydraulic system or not.

Unless you have documented history of service, I'd have the dealership do ALL the fluids and filters. Anything with 'oil' in it, drain and change. Yes, it'll cost a couple bucks having the dealer do it BUT if ANY problems come up later, THEY'll have to fix....can't blame it on you.

Thanks for all the input. I wonder if the dealer would pick it up? I don't have a car hauler to transport it.

Changing the fluids is not that hard to do yourself, along with replacing the filters and cleaning the hydraulic strainer.

If the dealer does it, it will cost you three times as much as the fluids (or more?), and they won’t stand behind the tractor anyway because they just changed the fluids…

Personally I would just do the fluid change myself, unless I had some kind of physical disability that prevented it…

I agree with Henro, it's pretty basic stuff to change all of your fluids just follow the directions in the operators manual. I would change all of the fluids and filters so you have a good starting base line for the tractor going forward. Remember to change the front axle fluid too.

Good luck with it. If you need any help feel free to ask on here.

In my area the dealer will pick it up
20 mile away
Like 100$ per trip
I kind of don’t trust no one to do work on my tractor, oil change is not hard
Use the best filter and oils you can find recommend for your tractor

I just picked up a B1700 a few months back from my brother in law with around 880hrs on it. I know he had the tractor serviced by the dealer yearly but I still will be doing a complete fluid / filter change at the end of mowing season to set my baseline on her. I'll also be giving it a good cleaning to pinpoint any potential problem areas. Lots of dust and dirt build up on this old girl hidden behind panels.

Pretty easy to change the fluids yourself. Why would a dealership be responsible to fix any problem that comes up after simply changing fluids on an older tractor with almost 1,000 hours?

I mean I can do the fluids myself. I didnt know if a dealer would see something I wouldnt or notice any problems. But I can go buy the filters and fluids and do it myself.
