Edit: I've seen the guys even use level pitch outside the house and it still works because it slows the water and carries the solids.
Even at my own house, I have a “redneck fix” line that is dead level.

Contractor and I scratched our heads on how to carry part of the flow from the distribution box to a new absorption area.

Due to grade and distance, only way to get there was level. It works and takes water just like the other lines from d-box.

Don’t recommend it ahead of a septic tank, after the tank is more forgiving.

Yep, it is counterintuitive, but is an issue when slopes are too steep, even on 15+" public sanitary sewer lines.

Can make running public sewers much more expensive on steep downhill slopes. Have to install periodic drop inlets (i.e., manholes) to lessen grades of the lines themselves.

@Trustable - - you've gotten good advice. (y)
Good to know thanks! It if it didn’t freeze this past winter when it was in the negatives I think I’ll be good with the slope based on what dirty deed and everyone else was saying. Especially when I add more dirt on. There wasn’t a whole lot online about this that was close to my situation, hence why I asked on here. When I first saw it I envisioned 5k leaving my bank and disappearing forever lol.

@dirtydeed said a lot of the same things I would have. He gave good great advice. (y)

My septic tank is deeper than I like to see them at about 18" or so. Still, it often doesn't have snow on it in the middle of winter, even from that depth.

We're in upstate New York a little southeast of Syracuse. Gets cold.

My "redneck fix" lateral line is only 3-4" deep and has never frozen. It only takes 1/3 of our house flow (~30+ gpd with just 2 of us here) and hasn't frozen to my knowledge.
